Founded as a Benedictine monastery in 1046, it was completely renovated in Renaissance style after the monastery was given to the congregation of San Giorgio in Alga, in 1441.
The building is dominated by a large dome of Michele San Micheli. The Romanesque tufa tower on the side of the church was cut off to build it. The white marble façade has two orders and has niches with statues of saints. The interior has a nave flanked by chapels of the sixteenth century.
