The Chapter of St Peter's was housed first in the underground crypt of Saints Peter and Paul, under the church of St. Francis of Assisi; later gathered in St. Peter's Chapel in Monterrone, also known as "the Carnara" for being transformed into burial, and finally, in the mid-fourteenth century, in the new temple of S. Pietro Caveoso, completely transformed in 1656 with the addition of side chapels.
The facade, built in 1706, has three portals and three stone statues depicting the "Madonna del Confalone", "St. Peter" and "St. Paul." Entering the church you can admire the statues of the "Madonna and Child" and "St. Leonard" attributed to Altobello Persio and the chapel dedicated to San Antonio in stone panels painted in 1531 by the same master, with scenes from the life of the saint: the miracle of the mule, the miser heart prodigy, the preaching to the fishes, the saving of the drowning man, the child's resurrection, the preaching to people.
