Lucca Center of Contemporary Art is located in the Palazzo Boccella, said "Alla Fratta", near Piazza Anfiteatro. It is the result of a project of renovation and redevelopment which saw the birth of a museum dedicated to contemporary art.
Interesting is the museum building too, built along the route of the medieval walls of Lucca, which has inside details such as pillars with traces of frescoes depicting allegorical figures, Bacchus, Ceres and Silenus, and costumed characters of the seventeenth century.
The historical evidence related to architecture contrasts with the construction of clean and aseptic white rooms prepared to accommodate any work and installation of contemporary art.
Particular attention is given to the external lighting of the Palace with its suggestive plays of light.
The historical setting of Lucca and the modern structure of the museum make Lu.CCA an active and prestigious contemporary art centre.
