The Church of the Suffrage is a church in Lucca located in the square of the same name. It is among the few churches built in Lucca ex novo during the seventeenth century. Erected in 1634, on the site of the burial of the plague victims of 1630, it is the only work carried out in his homeland by Francesco Buonamici. Of particular interest is the facade, with three orders separated by pilasters, which in the lower register enclose three arches that define a vaulted vestibule from which the church can be accessed. The interior, with a single nave and side chapels, decorated with stucco, was completed in 1675 with the construction of a majestic altar delimited by four spiral columns and surmounted by a broken pediment adorned with angels, which at the request of Elisa Baciocchi was donated in the nineteenth century to the Cathedral of Ajaccio, where it still stands today. The church is currently used as an auditorium for the adjacent Luigi Boccherini Music Institute.
