The Church of Sant'Andrea is a church in Lucca located on the street of the same name. Attested in the 11th century, it was completely rebuilt at the end of the 12th century. With a single nave and apse, constructed from rows of sandstone, the church was originally topped by a blind arcade, which was filled in at the end of the 17th century. The central portal is attributed to Guidetto: the architrave and lunette feature the master's signature motif of a vine tendril, while on the sides two lions clash with two figures of warriors. At the end of the 14th century, the church was enriched and adorned with new chapels, frescoes and altarpieces by some of the most prominent families of the city. In 1686, the building was raised and the trusses were replaced with a barrel vault; a majestic high altar was erected in the presbytery by Domenico Martinelli.
