First mentioned in 839, the church of Saints Simon and Jude was completely rebuilt in the early thirteenth century with three aisles by pillars, with capitals and apse, masonry blocks of squared stone alternated with rows of white limestone.
During the fourteenth century the church was enriched with altars, frescoes and painted panels. For the altar of Saints Jacopo and Filippo, Spinello Aretino painted the altarpiece, now divided between the National Gallery of Parma and a private collection in Mexico City.
From the church is also a wooden statue of Saint Ansano, referring to Jacopo della Quercia, kept at the Archbishop's Curia.
The church is now closed to worship and used as a venue for youth associations.
