Mini-cruise from Castro Marina: 3 magical hours along the Salento coastline, diving into spectacular coves and discovering unique caves. Relaxation, crystal-clear water, and all-inclusive snacks on board!
We will depart from the Port of Castro Marina, one of the most enchanting towns on the Salento coast, which overlooks crystal-clear waters and rugged cliffs. As we sail along the bay, we will stop to admire the spectacular Palombara and Rotundella Caves, carved out of limestone and characterized by unique plays of light. These caves are the result of millennia of erosion, which has created these captivating cavities.
We will continue on to the Blue Grotto, famous for the enchanting color of its waters, which range from deep blue to emerald green depending on the sunlight filtering through the opening. A visit to Zinzulusa Cave, one of the most famous and important caves in Salento, is a unique experience: its name comes from the “zinzule,” the stalactites that hang like rags from the cave's ceiling, creating a surreal landscape. The cave is also home to several rare animal species, including small bats.
We will make an outside stop at Romanelli Cave, a highly valuable archaeological site famous for its cave paintings dating back to the Upper Paleolithic period, which provide evidence of ancient human presence in the area.
The tour continues to the Striare Cave, a legendary cavern named after the “Striare” (witches) of Salento folklore. The rock formations, which resemble human faces, are the subject of folk tales and stories about magic and spells.
Next, we will reach Porto Miggiano Bay, one of the most captivating coves in Salento, with golden cliffs plunging into a crystal-clear sea. Here, we will stop for a swim in the waters of indescribable color.
Your next stop is Santa Cesarea Terme, famous for its thermal waters and Moorish architecture. From the sea, we will admire Villa Sticchi, a symbol of the town, which stands out against the breathtaking scenery.
The tour continues… The next stop is Porto Badisco, where a second swimming break is planned. Here, the turquoise sea and the seabed, teeming with marine life, are ideal for snorkeling. A light snack with drinks will be served on board, after which we will return to the port of Castro Marina.
