The hand weaving workshop was founded in 1921 by Giuditta Brozzetti, an important representative of women entrepreneurship in Umbria’s capital. The passion for weaving was handed down from mother to daughter, and today, 90 years later, cloths and fabrics are still begin made on hand looms, with decorative patterns connected with Umbrian weaving traditions from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.In the Museum-Workshop traditional 17th-century manual looms, 19th-century jacquard looms, and 17th-century looms for the “Flame of Perugia” weave are used, as well as drawings and cartoons that represent the workshop’s production from 1921 to today.The Workshop is located in the evocative church-convent of San Francesco delle Donne (13th century).
