The building, designed by abbot and architect Giovanni Furlani, was commissioned by Scipione Grillo.
The main facade, boasting a fake ashlar work, is decorated by denticular eaves and white stucco. Marble colums, at the sides of the massive portal, hold up a balcony.
Two huge inner courts are surrounded by vaulted porches, while along the stone and marble staircase to the first floor are set terracotta statues by Giuseppe Carra.
