This historic grocery store is the oldest, still existing business in the city. It lies at the foot of the torre dell'angelo (the Angel's Tower), in the canton said 'of the busie' ('lies') being a past negotiation venue for commercial mediators. The name recalls, instead, the plates of the balance scale (in dialect caìni, plates) which was once hung outside the shop to indicate he fairness of the prices applied. Already in February 1775, the Mangilli family received the concession of the portico from the Municipality, then enclosed to open a shop. In the 19th century, the business was taken over by the Dal Zio family, and since 1970, by Rino Zecchin and his son Massimo.
The major attractions of the shop are the furniture and epoch shelves, the warehouses made in the medieval rooms (it is said that in this tower the tyrant Ezzelino did not hesitate to put to death in harsh ways his prisoners) and especially the products retailed at the grocery, high quality products, often unavailable elsewhere, as the spices sold by weight or the 'concie', food preparations made with spice blends.
