The Sanctuary dedicated to the life and works of the pious confessor of the city. The Church, dating back to the beginning of the 19th century, is part of a monastery complex of the order of Capuchin friars which includes also the Sanctuary of Saint Leopoldo Mandic. The church, which was torn down during World War II, was built in its current appearance by architect Giovanni Morassuti. The only thing that survived the bombings of 1944 was the confessional of the Dalmatian Capuchin friar, who died in 1942 and was included among the Saints in 1983.
Leopoldo Mandic had been for many years the tireless confessors of the inhabitants of Padua, and his Sanctuary is still a place of devotion and the destination of a great number of pilgrimages.
