Formerly the venue of Musei Civici, now dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
Museo al Santo, partly based in the complex of the Oratory of St. George and of Scoletta del Santo, was created in 1895, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary from the birth of the Saint, with the aim to make art collections and the objects linked to the Saint available to the public.
Between 1870 and 1880 the rooms located in this area of the Saint’s monastery were restored in order to host the artistic heritage of the Museo Civico, enriched by the donations of families Capodilista and Bottacin. The restoration, started by Eugenio Maestri, was accomplished by Camillo Boito who designed the façade and the monumental staircase at the entrance.
With the growth of the collection the space was no longer enough, and after moving to the new venue of the Museo Civico degli Eremitani, this space was free. Currently the rooms are dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
