Embark on a captivating journey through the picturesque towns of Salento, a region in southern Italy known for its stunning landscapes and rich history. Our comfortable, air-conditioned minivan, driven by a knowledgeable guide, will take you on a scenic route that spans the Adriatic and Ionian coasts, passing through dramatic rocky shores, secluded bays, and pristine white-sand beaches reminiscent of the Caribbean. First, we'll visit Galatina, a hidden gem steeped in art, history, and tradition. Be awestruck by the stunning Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, adorned with exquisite frescoes created by Giotto's disciples. The Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, ancient "courtyard houses," and historic center buildings are also must-visit attractions. Next, we'll arrive in Otranto, a charming coastal village boasting a rich cultural heritage. Wander through the town's historic center, where every corner reveals the influence of past civilizations, from the Romans to the Byzantines, Ottomans, and Aragonese. Take some time to explore the magnificent Cathedral, Church of Saint Peter, and the impressive Castle, Towers, and Pelasgi Bastions. After Otranto, we'll make our way to Santa Maria di Leuca, a scenic coastal town located at the southernmost tip of Italy, where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas converge. Marvel at the towering cliffs, hidden caves, and secluded bays as we drive along the stunning Adriatic coastline. We'll pass by Castro Marina, Ciolo Fiord, and Santa Cesarea Terme before arriving at our final destination. Finally, we'll visit Gallipoli, a dazzling coastal city divided into two distinct areas: the old, historic center and the modern, new village. Take some time to wander through the labyrinthine streets of the old town, discovering quaint shops, impressive Baroque churches, and aristocratic palaces. Don't miss the majestic Cathedral of St. Agatha, the 13th-century Angevine Castle, and the ancient Greek Fountain.
