Palazzo Bianco was built at the beginning of the 18th century and bequeathed to the City Council by Maria Brignole-Sale De Ferrari, Duchess of Galliera, in 1888 together with a remarkable collection of ancient and modern works of art, meant to become the first ‘public gallery’ in town. Besides masterpieces by Caravaggio, Vouet, Murillo, Rubens, Van Dyck and many other Flemish painters, the building also houses a large collection of Genoese paintings from the 16th to the 18th centuries, including works by Cambiaso, Strozzi and Magnasco.
