An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multilevel arches and vaulted wood ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, portico streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, featuring the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.
Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural...
Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural landmarks. I would recommend it for anyone coming to Venice for its distance and relative affordability in comparison with the most tourist city of Veneto.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Recommend University Tour, Scrovegni Chapel, and the Basilica of St Anthony. Baptistery of the Duomo was just incredible. Renaissance architecture of the city is stunning.
Enjoyed the small bars for Aperitivo
I will stay for a longer period next time

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.

We enjoyed Padova very much. A city with a family feel.
We enjoyed Padova very much. A city with a family feel.
Recommend a walking tour to give you a good idea of the city. Amazing sights with every turn. Easy to find traditional restaurants plus plenty of supermarkets for those staying in apartments. We used the train station to visit other places of interest which was easy to use though has plenty of assistance.if needed. Easy to walk around Padova using your map.
The property was located in Padova 500 meters from the train station. The property had everything we needed and more for our 5 day stay. It was very modern. And very good condition. This is another property which as set the bar to a high standard. As we travel around Italy.
Camille. Was a very friendly host. And asked us after a couple of days if we were all okay and the apartment to our satisfaction and it was a big yes to both.
The staff were fantastic! From the moment we walked in, they made our (rather large) group feel so welcome. Anytime I got to walk past reception was great. I'm not a huge fan of wine, but if they'd had more options at the bar, I might've just hung out at the hotel and not explored anymore of Padova! You guys really contributed to us having an amazing trip, and I will definitely be returning to Padova as soon as I possibly can.
The location of the apartment is great, just next to the city center and close to the university. There are also the tram and bus stop very close by. The host is also very nice and ready to help. We were a bit cold in the room and they immediately provided an electric heater. The comfort is also well above the average hotel in Padova.
Location is amazing! 5 minutes of the highway and 15 minutes to Padova center with the bus. The bus stop is in front of the hotel. Hotel is very nice, feels like it is adapting/renovating slowly. Big parking. I'm really having difficult time finding hotels to my liking in Italy and this was a good find.
The hotel seems to be the perfect choice for us when we were heading to Venice in the morning. Also for better price than to get a hotel in Venice or Padova. The facility looked nice from the first glance; however, the reality was different. The first blond receptionist was very kind and helpful though.
First, the location could hardly be better. Very close to the key things in Padova AND steps from the TRAM, so an easy trip from/to the train station. Second, the breakfast was an amazing assortment. No matter what you want, it's pretty much there. Much better than average for an Italian hotel.
The location of the property is across the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua. However it is approx 2kms(30mins) walk from the Padova railway station. The pilgrim area around the hotel and Church is vibrant and lively till late night even during the winter months(We visited in December).
The room was lovely and comfortable, breakfast was great, and it was an easy walk to explore all the places in Padua I was hoping to see. Irene & Tommaso were helpful and responsive, and I had a great conversation with Irene about exploring Italy. All in all, a pleasure to be there!
The room was larg and, bed very comfortable. 5 min drive to central Padova. Free parking all around the hotel and underground. We were also able to use the parking lot at their other hotel, which is further in the center, Best Western Plus Galileo for free.
- Everything perfect!
- Its absolutely ok if you want to go to Padova by car, you have only a 5-10 minute ride to the center
- very nice room and bathroom size
- Classic Italian Hotel near the road:)
- Very good noise sealing windows!
Located across from the train station, 1/2 hour train ride to Venice. Newly renovated hotel, great Italian-English speaking manager Alex who was very efficient and helpful!
The NH Hotel has all the amenities and favours of the NH hotels chain. Clean, good beds, delicious and huge breakfast. The reception staff was very kind and helpful.
More spacious and better room than in the three 4-star hotels we stayed in the previous 3 days in Italy. Also the only hotel with coffee and tea in the room.
