Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past.
From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past. But take the time to visit and you will be pleasantly surprised of what it has to offer. Loved the city and its history. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and many hidden gems to discover.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus...
An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
Everything was incredible with my stay here. Checking into the property was incredibly easy. Location is perfect, right in the heart of Aosta with cafes and restaurants just outside the door, walking distance to the Pila Ski resort cable car, and walking distance to many trails around the area. After a long day of adventuring and exploring I could enjoy coffee on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Christmas lights lining the main walking road. Would absolutely recommend and will try to stay here again if/when I return to Aosta.
This is our third time in this hotel. We like it because is very nicely situated in the heart of the old city of Aosta (everything is reachable by foot in the old city), has a private parking, the view from the upper floors (we stayed on the 4th and 5th floors) towards the Alps is amazing, the staff is very kind and helpful and the breakfast is excellent, serving among others, local produce.
We found the price very correct as well.
There is a spa but we didn't try it.
We will be back whenever will be visiting the Aosta valley.
If you are planning to go skiing near Aosta it would be hard for me to believe that a better property exist. It has everything you need: ski room, technical wall that can be used to hang all the snow clothes that you used during the day, confortable beds and even a spacious and well equipped kitchen. Free parking is also very convenient.
Federica also recommend a very good restaurant nearby (Aldente Restaurant) and even took the time to draft the best plan to go to skiing in Zermatt (Switzerland). 10/10
Wanna have a real Valdostana experience like you were in your Aosta home? That's the right place.
Warm welcome and impeccable organization. Beautiful, spotless and fascinating rooms.
We had a really pleasant check-in according to our preference with owners who not only welcome us but also offer fresh fruits and dessert as a compliment kit.
All restaurants and places they suggested were absolutely places to be in Aosta!
I was surprised how comfortable the bed was. Nice and clean room with its own bathroom. The stuff was friendly, the breakfast ok, with very interesting dining room. Just below the hotel, you can connect to a path next to the river, and this path can take you to the center of Aosta few km away. Good if you want to walk or bike to the town.
We have been going to the Milleluci of and on for 25 years and it gets better and better with more and more facilities while maintaining its very high standards. The breakfast is out of this world, so much choice. The location is above Aosta in a rural area with stupendous views and possibilities for good walks.
Immaculate apartment centrally located in Aosta with everything you need and unbelievable views! Wonderful and kind host was here to welcome us and gave excellent recommendations. Perfect location to explore the beautiful Aosta Valley and magnificent surrounding mountains!
Lovely hotel with a super restaurant overlooking the Aosta valley and mountains. Stunning views. We had the 7 course tasting menu, which was extremely good. Dog friendly, including the restaurant. Staff were very helpful. Free parking on site.
Very good strategic location in Aosta, clean, calm, easy to walk to the city center, a parking place provided. And this hotel loves children - or son enjoyed a little surprise left for him in our room.
