FAQs about hotels in Lucca
On average, it costs $194 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Lucca for tonight. You'll pay around $230 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Lucca will cost around $193, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Once Italy’s 2nd largest city-state, elegant Lucca remains an important town on any itinerary in beautiful Tuscany. Its instantly recognizable historic center is completely surrounded by Renaissance-era walls which offer a leisurely "passeggiata."
Tree-lined bastions overlook the surrounding modern town, but their low height means that the best photo opportunities of medieval Lucca are from Torre Guinigi. This tower topped with trees overlooks the rooftops below and lush mountains beyond.
The bell tower of San Frediano is even taller and stands back from the elaborate gold mosaic adorning the church’s façade. Equally interesting is Lucca Cathedral’s façade, where every column is unique. The church of San Michele in Foro is on the site of the Roman forum, and the Domus Romana excavations are of a house from a similar era.
Roman amphitheater remains also form foundation stones of the medieval houses, cafés and shops of oval-shaped Piazza Anfiteatro. More sidewalk restaurants line Piazza Napoleone, Lucca’s largest square, around the corner from San Giovanni church, home to a festival celebrating Puccini, the town’s most famous son. Unsurprisingly, music is a big thing here, and summer and winter festivals showcase genres other than just opera.
Booking.com’s range of Lucca accommodations includes apartments, B&Bs and 5-star hotels. Properties are available near the train station, and some include swimming pools and parking.

Beautiful old town Lucca, especially enjoyed the walks and bicycle rides along the wall, easy to get around if you are not driving yourself but you can walk or cycle everywhere easily within the old town walls.

The walled city had too much to see for the length of our stay. We would like to return. We only had breakfast at hotel, and it was ample. Dinners we had in old, traditional local restaurants near the hotel, and the food was excellent. Lucca is a walled city and not open to general traffic.... it is a pedestrian city. I don't think we would avoid anything, but would make more time for a Lucca visit.

Piazza San Michelle square in our opinion is the best square in Lucca with wonderful cafes to soak in the sun, serving local sweet and savoury food. The square is home to the Taddeucci family bakery who are famous for their Bucellato. Forno a Vapore Amedeo Giusti is also wonderful bakery. Restaurants which we loved included Da Ciacco and the wine bar Enoteca Vanni. Lucca has everything to offer for a four / five day stay (we didn’t get bored that’s for sure!), with lots of museums and beautiful architecture. The Guinigi tower is well worth a climb for beautiful city views and the city walls are a lovely walk especially at sunset, with Mountain views in the distance! There are also lots of wonderful shops in the city and the people of Lucca are very friendly.

Beautiful architecture within the impressive defensive wall structure. It was compact enough within the historic centre for one to acquire a familiarity with all aspects of the city within our 8 day stay. All restaurants and cafes that we ate at provided excellent food: there were no disappointments.
Furthermore, Lucca has great public transport links with other areas of Tuscany: day trips were had to Viareggio, Pistoia, and Firenze.

We loved Lucca.
We loved Lucca. Great restaurants, great shopping, fabulous food and little grocery stores so you can cook at home too. Loved walks on the wall and strolling down streets window shopping with an espresso. Going back in 2025 for 3 weeks!
Superbe boutique hôtel on the rolling hills of Tuscany near the lovely village of Lucca. The hotel has stunning views, especially from the pool. The hotel is extremely peaceful. It’s very calming. Our suite was very large with a seating area (with a rollup couch), a very large bedroom and a very dreamy bathroom. Tv's in both seating and bedroom areas. Pool towels are available in the room. We did not have a balcony but the view was amazing. The staff is kind, generous, extremely helpful and professional.
The hotel is very beautiful and typically Italian! The staff were amazing and went above and beyond! The location was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for more - very close to Lucca and Pisa. We had the most amazing breakfast at a nice terrace and the most amazing service! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay. Thank you!
Hotel Alla Corte is a great place to stay and to explore the city of Lucca. Its is a perfect location and walking distance to everything. The most amazing stay just outside of Lucca. Extremely handy with parking and just a 10 minute walk to the centre of Lucca. We were upgraded to a jacuzzi room with a sauna which was incredible and had amazing views. The host was wonderful, extremely friendly and provided a good breakfast. Would recommend 100%!
The location, with parking, was just great for us. The rooms were simple but very comfortably furnished with some lovely personal touches. The host was just brilliant and worked around our timings which took the pressure off checking in and potential delays at the airport. We would go back if staying in Lucca.
We enjoyed everything about Villa La Preziosa! A wonderful boutique hotel just outside of Lucca. Beautiful grounds, very comfortable rooms. Excellent eye to detail in every aspect of the hotel and grounds. The grounds are a labour of love! Very attentive staff made us feel very at home! Highly recommended!!
Loved everything about our stay. Our apartment was huge with all kinds of wonderful touches. They invited us on a tour of the property and concluded with wine tasting! Fabulous. Great communication. Very welcoming. Made us reservations to one of our favorite meals in Italy!!
This hotel is like stepping into a time warp. Full of character and what feels like history with scenic views accross lucca while offering the amenities of modern life. Parking was great for our motorbikes (within secure gate) and access to Lucca city centre was a short walk.
A very cosy hotel with a great welcome, very nice bar (and barlady) and absolutely brilliantly located bang in the centre of the old town of Lucca. Good parking. Good breakfast - the fruit was delicious which often isn't the case. The room was silent, dark and warm.
Location convenient for being inside the walls of Lucca. close walk to shopping, great restaurants. Many beautiful churches and museums nearby. Street noise when inside room was minimal. very quiet. The attention to decorating detail of our room was perfect fo us.
This is an elegant, friendly hotel with a fantastic location - right in the heart of Old Town Lucca. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is wonderful. It is very clean. Great value for you money.
Location was great and the staff was very helpful with directions(driving in and out of the city was not easy). Because I was in Italy for 3 weeks, I needed to ship some items home. The staff was so helpful!
Casa Nocchi is well located and an easy walk from the Lucca train station and all of the attractions of the old city. It is very comfortable with the largest shower recess that I have experienced in Italy!
The staff is great, very warm, positive and welcoming. The cook is lovely, we had the best breakfaat we have had in all of Italy. Very convenient location just outside Lucca but very grean and serene
