The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.

coming to Bari on Friday night was probably not a very good idea, but we found accommodation easily. The flat owner also took care of parking the car for us. The city has its charm even on a Friday night if you sit outside in a pizza restaurant and typical local songs are played and the cook comes out with pizza dough in his hands and sings along with the performer. Awesome.

The city is an excellent starting point for exploring Puglia. You can visit Lecce, Polignano a mare, Matera and other cities by train.
The town has a beautiful, long promenade along the sea.
The food is excellent. Octopus sandwiches are the best. You must try all types of panzzoritti.

Bari is a beautiful port city.
Bari is a beautiful port city. Well connected with other smaller towns and bigger centers, it's very vibrant place with a great cultural patrimony, beautiful and quite long lungomare (sea side promenade), excellent and affordable food. The people are kind and friendly. Also a great place for shopping. If you are looking a great place to explore history, culture and food, that's a place to go.

The city itself not extremely interesting.
The city itself not extremely interesting. The historic center is nice but the rest of the city is a random place. The people are nice, the parking in the city center is a nightmare try to use public transport or walk. The seaside is really nice.

Bari is not very charming.
Bari is not very charming. It is a good transfer destination to the surrounding cities. I recommend buying train tickets online, but you also need to check in before the ride. It is better to rent a car to places like Matera or Alberobello. We also visited Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Locorotondo and Lecce.

Bari is a great medieval seacoast town in Puglia.
Bari is a great medieval seacoast town in Puglia. The train is easy to walk to and provides good access to other places in Puglia for day trips. There are many restaurants, churches, shops, and a modern city adjacent to the historic center of Bari. We also visited and stayed in Monopoli, Lecce, and Alberobello, and the ancient city of Matera in nearby Basilicata.
Great location, close to both the Old Town and the shopping street, close to the station. Quiet street,
small hotel, boutique, luxury and modern. Comfortable, large rooms, well-equipped, cleaned daily, replenished with good cosmetics, by Hermes , nice bathroom, delicious coffee in the room. Taking care of every detail in the room.
Great service, top class, great staff who are helpful and friendly. Wonderful gentleman from the front desk.
Lovely old Lady from the cafe, where we ate breakfast was very nice, she speaks good english.
Very nice hotel, brand new with very comfortable mattress and beautifully decorated. We had a room with an amazing jacuzzi that was like a little cave, unfortunately at night the A/C stoped working but the staff were very diligent and immediately accommodated us in one of their suites, I was impressed, it was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The hotel is also at a very good location, an easy walk to main attractions. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Bari.
I definitely recommend this hotel to stay when you are in Bari. Perfect location at the city center. Room was very spacious with large bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast is probably the best breakfast which I have ever had in a hotel. Exceptional, delightful and delicious ! Last, but not least the staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. Book this place for the perfect Bari experience !
10/10
Rosella kindly greeted me upon arrival and provided me with a detailed map, including her personal recommendations on sights to see and places to eat. She obviously loves her city and shares the best of Bari with her guests. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you're driving around Bari, outside the city. Parking is easy and located directly in front of property.
This is a perfect b&b for a city break, especially if you want to be close to Bari Central Train station. Everything else is also within easy reach. the old town, the shops, the port and the beach. despite being so central the rooms are really quiet and cool (I was there during a really hot spell). The staff are friendly and helpful…it’s the prefect city - break hotel.
We had a great stay in Bari at CConforthotels R&B Suite&Chic.
Our room was superb - size / bed comfort / bathroom.
We even had two separate balconies on different sides of the room.
The location is great - at the edge of the 'grid pattern' and only 5 minutes walk from the edge of the old town.
Train station 10 minutes walk away and Ferry Terminal no more than 15.
This is better than a 5 star hotel!! Location is great (at the heart of the old town), the room super clean, but the highlight is Roberto's hospitality which is incomparable! He welcomed us with the best aperitivo and he prepared a great breakfast! Really fast to respond and he's very helpful! If ever in Bari again I'd go straight there! Couldn't recommend it more :)
lovely hotel in old town - tastefully furnished and decorated
nicely spacious room + the roof terrace a quiet spot with plenty of space too
wonderful energetic and positive host - we followed her tips and they were spot on - v helpful as we’re in Bari for such a short time and she helped us make the most of it
quiet too bar the odd expected voices and creaks
Great location! Clean flat withcomfy bed! The host was amazing giving us great recommendations for food. We had a small balcony and it was great to sit outside when we were in the flat. We will book the same place when we visit Bari next time. Our accommodation combined with the place left us with the very best impression.
it had a at home type of energy. it was great for me. I really enjoyed this space. the owners were phenomenal. Best stay I had they showed us around took us to some amazing places for a small fee. the sites was worth every penny. Bari is now one of my top three places in Italy.
Everything, location is superb, 10min from train/bus station and the same from city center.
The staff is polite and kind.
The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable so we slept like babies.
Breakfast one of the best in Italy so far.
For me it is a 10/10 hotel.
Everything : apartment is very clean and confortable. Location is great : 5 minutes walking from Bari Central station and 10 minutes walking from heart of City.
Lidia and her husband are so polite and helpful for everything we needed. 5/5 stars for them 🙂
the hotel is perfectly located, near the Pinacoteca, with a wonderful seaside view. Design is colorful and elegant, and amenities are from Etro, a luxury Italian brand;
the heated pool on the rooftop is a must
The location is outstanding. It is on the beach, first line of the Bari promenade. Excellent view from the balcony. Superb breakfast. The hotel has paid parking available.
The hotel is located in a nice place.
In the central part of the city.
Near the old town of Bari.
Easy to find.
The staff is very responsive.
