A pleasant untouristy city with some lovely old streets and cathedral in the centre. The Certosa, a few miles north, is breathtaking and more stunning than many cathedrals - which is saying something in Italy!
We also used Pavia as a quieter location from which to visit Milan. Frequent trains go there and they are very cheap.

Compact, clean and easy to access with beautiful historic building and a good vibe, a small city with a country feel and not as congested as Milan. A great position to visit the little know ultra-po-pavese region of Borgo Priolo area with its fantastic-not-to-be missed Veciu Alpin in Casteggio

If you plan to visit Milan, visit this lovely town for a day or two! It has a lot of interesting places to go for a walk and opportunities for a scavenger hunt! The people living there are very kind and helpful! For an authentic Italian dinner, visit "Il Piccolo Arcobaleno" pizzeria.

Small city with a calm and nice flair combined with history (university, cathedral, bridge) and good food. Try out the risotto typical for that area. If you are in a rush, one day is enough to see everything.

Beautiful historical city with warm receptive people.
Beautiful historical city with warm receptive people. I stay around University of Pavia. It was a very busy and lively environment, surrounded by shopping malls in the major streets leading to the wide open city centre.

Pavia is a beautiful place to stroll around and enjoy life.
Pavia is a beautiful place to stroll around and enjoy life. Great food, shopping and art, together with extremely kind people. Besides the Certosa, 7 min train away, the Castle and main churches are well worth a visit. Even the station café is good.
Plus you're about 40 min away from Milan's Duomo.
big rooms and clean. the hostel is not in the city center but just a walk away (15 mins walk if you go through the station). hostel is easy to reach, staff is friendly and help you for check in and check out. the hostel has a coffe machine dispenser (around 70cents a cup of coffee), a boiler for your tea (free) and a microwave available for guests. Pavia is really nice to visit. I recommend this place if you want something easy and you would like to save some money.
You can't be more central than Corso Cavour in Pavia, which really helps in terms of getting access to all the amenities and sights of the town centre and the neighbouring areas. It's an easy walk from the train station and the room itself is well presented and maintained. It does have a fridge and a cooker with some cutlery and dishes, so cooking a meal is a possibility if the visitors choose to do so.
Avital was super friendly, she and her husband Raphael helped us with the luggage. Avital shared with us the “must to do” in Pavia, she recommended a really good restaurants, places to visit and activities to do in the area.
The place is close to the train station and to the city center which is the exact place we searched for.
I recommend this place.
We decided to check-out one day before regular departure regardless of the financial loss. That´s an explanation of our "satisfaction". To be true, hotel rooms vere clean, airconditioned and sufficiently comfortable. However, the rest of the hotel was not so good. The distance from the Pavia railway station is 1,2 km.
The property is in a historic building and is updated beautifully. It is in a terrific location, and you can walk to all of the sights in Pavia. We were visiting our son who is studying at the university and could walk to his collegio. I recommend this property to anyone who comes to Pavia.
Pavia is the hidden gem of Northern Italy, and B&B Castellani is the hidden gem of Pavia. The hosts were beyond helpful! I only wish I could have stayed longer! This guesthouse is perfectly located, immaculately clean and well-provisioned. I completely adored Pavia!
Came to hotel earlier than my expected stay with
my husband in order to try to see a doctor. Was unable to do much for myself due to an injury but the staff was gracious and very helpful. I couldn’t have picked a better place to try and recover.
Great Location near the centre of Pavia! The room is spacious and the bathroom is very big! Even for my late checkin they arranged an easy way to check in. Great service, great rooms, great location! The best of all, I slept very well!
The facility was clean, modern. Bed very comfortable. Lots of activities there on the grounds. Pool Great parking, always a problem in Pavia. 10 minutes or so by car from center of town. Good breakfast in the morning. Very quiet.
great location- 1 hour walk to Pavia center, super welcoming staff, everything clean and quiet, no problem with parking, safe to leave the baby carriage right in the yard next to apartment, good eggs at the breakfast:)
This a boutique type hotel locating in a building not far from the historic center of Pavia. The rooms are very lovely, comfortable, and sparkling clean. I would recommend it highly for a short stay in Pavia.
