1. Location - Right on in the historic district. All the historic sites within walking distance. 2. Front Desk staff. Although the hotel has no services, and has so many deficiencies, the staff here do the best they can. 3. Good, but poorly renovated lobby. Depressing lightening.

Hotel Posta, hotel in Palermo

The elegant Hotel Posta is a former noble mansion located in the historic center of Palermo, just 984 feet from the Massimo Theater and 0.6 mi from Palermo Cathedral.

The location was very good: within walking distance of all tourist attractions and very close to many many restaurants and shopping The best asset of this hotel are its employees. They do any and everything they can to accommodate the guests. They are truly exceptional. I wasn’t quite as pleased with the housekeeper, who gave me fewer towels and fewer shampoo and soap, as the trip went on, as if I needed less things each day. Other than that, the employees were terrific. The breakfast were also very nice. They prepared beautifully set tables with pastries, homemade breads, fresh fruit, meat and cheese plate on every table for every guest, and then delivered yogurt, cappuccinos, juice, as you needed it in a very nice breakfast room.

great choices for breakfast. There was a staff person at the desk all the time, who could answer questions about how to get to places. There was free public parking juat around the corner from the hotel. We could easily get our bags to our room. Since we arrived at the end of the day, there were plenty of spaces, and it was safe! Very big room. Camplus is apparently also a college dorm, which was fine for us. Lots of young people around.

Everything. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were nice. The bathroom was modern and well equipped. The Breakfast Buffet was fabulous! The parking (by payment) was secure. We were not there long enough to make use of the small patio to the rear of the hotel. The Reception recommended a nearby restaurant for dinner where we had a fantastic meal.

FAQs about hotels in Palermo

A Symbol of Sicily

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.

Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theater, and across the street is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina, whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.

Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining the 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.

Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, an intersection with a fountain in each corner.

Other attractions include the round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodations.

Palermo is beautiful but the rubbish bins and unswept streets are as bad as Naples, the nearby beaches are filthy due to sewage release. While infrastructure is deficient residents personally are to blame for the unclean side streets. The bins have no lids which must encourage rats and flies. Even restaurants do not do a basic litter pick in their immediate environment which indicated what their kitchens must be like. Sicily though very beautiful is a third world experience. Food hygiene at markets is below basic, comparable with India and would not entice me to eat under any circumstances.

Nice old churches, tasty food, nice weather. Interesting small streets ("vicoli") with lots of self-made small shrines. Too many tourists in the central streets (but OK, you can find other ways too). We were there for a Conference, wish we had more time for walking around the city and in the surroundings.

A fun city with a rich history. There is plenty to see and do. Very good value for money. There are shops restaurant's and trips to suit everyone’s budget. We would highly recommend a city tour if time is limited. We met with other travellers that had done a very good walking tour.We traveled in May and were surprised at how busy it was.

Very interesting architecture, BUT the municipality really has to take better care of the amount of trash at the city, it an easy to solve problem that really subtracts to the first impression. Other than this fault it was quite breath taking and had so much to offer, culturally, historically and simply vacationally. So much to do in such a small place.

Perfectly located among the best areas of Palermo. Quiet building and street (except for when someone's car alarm went off multiple times through the night). The host communicated wonderfully and received us after a long flight and bus ride and walk. The walk from the bus station is not bad, maybe 10 minutes. She has a lovely common area with tea and little snacks and treats that was wonderful. Love the view out our window too. The hot water and shower was by far the best we've had on our travels in Italy. Definitely very clean too!

The hotel is situated in Via Roma near the railway station. An excellent starting point for exploring Palermo. It is on the four floors of the building. There is a friendly old fashion typical Italian-style elevator. There is a reception, and the staff is very helpful and polite. They will give you information about Palermo and Sicily. The room is extra big. There is air conditioning in the room. The breakfast is more than classical Italian. You can choose various options and also they will ask you to offer more food and drinks.

Amazing host, very helpful and friendly. She made us feel right at home and gave us very useful tips. We could also store our luggage at the hotel before check-in and then found our luggage already in the room when we came back. The location was perfect if you want to reach all the nice areas by foot for evening and dinner, on top of that there are bus stops to Mondello beach and airport right in front of the apartment. There is also a very lively street food market just 100 m away where you can enjoy nice Palermo evening.

Breakfast was plentiful and varied, most enjoyable. The location was fantastic, easy to get to most central sights, including the three main markets in Palermo. The staff organised a taxi for us to get to the central railway station. Everything at the hotel was accessible by lift. We will return to Sicily and Palermo and will choose Alma Hotel next time.

The best breakfast we had in Italy. Every morning, the host prepared a fresh homemade breakfast and also took into account any allergies of other guests. The room was spacious, clean and cozy. The B&B is located near to the train station and in the middle of a tourist area with many nice restaurants and views. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a nice welcome to Sicily! Christine the host was easy to communicate with and always quick to respond. The check-in was an easy process, and we just took a taxi from the airport on her recommendation as we weren't sure what was the best way to get there. It is truly a lovely apartment, the decor is beautiful and the rooms and balconies are very special. It is in a very walkable location and we just walked everywhere (also a short walk to the main train station).

Amazing place. The best place I stayed in my 8 days holidays in Sicily. The most comfortable bed and pillows I have had. A great breakfast in the terrace with a perfect view of the city I really recommend this hotel

The house and gardens were beautiful and well looked after. Monica was a very attentive and helpful host. Breakfast was very good. Proximity to the airport and great for exploring Palermo and the west of Sicily.

We stayed in La Serenissima Hotel after arriving in Sicily. The location is very central in the old town of Palermo, with lots of bars and restaurants near by. The room was clean and very functional.
