Important Port of Saintly Significance
The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.

Et trobes com a casa, hi tens de tot. Pot semblar que està una miqueta allunyat del centre, però, en realitat, és un passeig de 10 minuts fins a l'estació central, on ja està tot a tocar: Bari no és molt gran i tot està a l'abast. L'amfitriona és molt atenta i t'ajuda en tot. Ideal per a estades llargues com a centre d'operacions des del qual poder visitar tota la Puglia!RicardEspanya

Encara que no hi ha personal presencial per fer el checking, varem estar molt ben atesos "on line" per Sr. Pier. En tot moment va estar en contacte amb nosaltres, resolent els dubtes. Ens va aconsellar un bon restaurant ( La Tana del Polpo) a on varem sopar cuina local molt bona. Per despiste nostre no varem trobar uns dolços típics i frescos del dia que formaben part de l'esmorzar.

Un lloc molt agradable, amb una ciutat nova amb molt d’ambient, i una ciutat vella plena de monuments. L’apartament, molt ben renovat i cuidat, està just a un pas del soterrani sota l’estació que dona a la plaça Aldo Moro, i des d’allà es pot caminar on vulguis.
