Travelers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo, and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.
Bologna is a fantastic city. The food was amazing.
Bologna is a fantastic city. The food was amazing. The was plenty to see and do and the people were friendly. We walked several miles of the streets to seekout what was published and happen upon things we did no know of that were quite interesting. Bologna ideally located. We plan to return for an extended stay to act as a base point to visit other cities via rail. La Taverna Di Roberto is a fantastic place to eat. We returned there for our last night. Bologna City Walking tour was a great way to learn the city and history and determine what you wanted to go back to spend more time. Taxis are relatively inexpensiver compared to other cities in Italy and a great what to get to the airport or train. Avoid booking a Stay at a place called Home Sweet Luxury. It is not at all what it is advertised and horrible living conditions.

A lovely and unique city with miles of covered walkways...
A lovely and unique city with miles of covered walkways which were both practical (keeping you dry and cool) and architecturally interesting. The city is very walkable with lots of interesting buildings, good restaurants and cafes. It seemed much less touristy than Rome or Florence. You get a sense of being amongst locals going about their day to day business. Giardini Margherita is beautiful and worth a visit. The walk up to The Santuario di Madonna di San Luca is also worthwhile and a very good workout with 471 steps and 3.8km of covered walkway!

Beautiful historic city with most attractions easily...
Beautiful historic city with most attractions easily accessible by foot. The Archaeological Museum and Pinacoteca Nazionale were highlights. San Luca Sanctuary walk was spectacular but quite a lot of uphill; best done in the morning, to arrive in time for the skydome access which opens at 10am.

Bologna is steeped in history.
Bologna is steeped in history. I recommend doing a guided walking tour and the San Luca express to the Basilica. The shopping was also pretty good. Bologna is also a sports city with Imola about half-hour away from Bologna (Emilia Romagna Formula One). The soccer stadium is also fairly close to the historic city centre. Bologna is a gastronomic delight - fresh Parmigiano Reggiano, aged to perfection. Fresh pasta, handmade. And the gelato!

Bologna has a wonderful combination of architecture both...
Bologna has a wonderful combination of architecture both old and new. We enjoyed the pace as compared to Rome and Florence. The people were welcoming, helpful, and lovely. We had secured and loved our cooking experience. What we did not enjoy was trying to secure a taxi when needed. We found the service unacceptable.
Our flight got canceled so we arrived way later than planned. We e-mailed the hotel and they responded promptly that they would be open and waiting for us. This was a welcome relief close to midnight. The staff was very, very friendly and accomodating. I love the comfort of the bed and bedding and my partner reveled in the amenities provided in the bathroom. Breakfast was probably the best we had in our entire Italian adventure. I'd highly recommend this hotel for a one-night stay (only 15 minutes or less from Bologna airport).
Great location, right in the heart of Bologna and close to everything you will want to see. The hotel is an older hotel - we found it charming - with an old elevator and great architecture. The room was huge with a nice table and chairs to eat breakfast, included in the cost, in the room each day. Staff was very nice and accommodated an early check in so we could settle in before a meeting we had in the afternoon.
The atmosphere, the fact that it’s so modern, the staff, the parking (which is rare in Italy), the spotless and nice-smelling beadsheets and towels, the location ( close to highway so you can easily move around, and close to bus-stop so you can explore the city), the breakfast, the menu of the restaurant.
We will definitely be back when we return to Bologna or when we go to other cities they have the same hotels.
Everything. Class and comfort at every turn and yet, probably because it was Bologna, one of the most reasonable in terms of price. Close to the train station, and not a far walk from the center of town. This was truly luxury compared to other hotel rooms at similar prices. Bed, bathroom, shower, chairs in room, breakfast, lobby, and staff were all excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Perla is actually an "albergo". This means that if you expect the amenities of a hotel you will be disappointed. It is in an old house in the historical centre of Bologna. The rooms however were clean as was the bathroom. A stained bed-cover was changed immediately. The windows are noise-proof. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. It is located very near to all the sights of Bologna.
The location was convenient when arriving from Bologna Central station or by monorail from the airport. A short walk from the city centre in a nice quiet area with cafes and a supermarket nearby. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We were welcomed by Jacopo who arrived very promptly to give us the keys. The air conditioning was much appreciated in the hot weather.
Not just a hotel. It s a project!!!
Friendly and polite staff, very clean, safe and everything well organized. Loved the bed and the bathroom. The location is fantastic, 3 minutes walking from Bologna Centrale so you can take the Marconi Express to the airport and trains to many destinations to Italy. I wish we could stay a couple of days more….
This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Bologna, near many restaurants, as well as the very fun University district. It was especially convenient to be able to come back to the hotel to rest during the day. Also, the two terraces offer beautiful views of the centre of Bologna. The staff was very helpful and the room was very clean!
Spacious with aircon which is great during Italian summer :), small fridge is also a nice touch.
Very close to the Bologna airport but hotel shuttle runs specific times only so check times carefully. Otherwise taxi is about Euro 15 for 5 min ride. Hotel orders taxi for you to get back to the airport and waiting time is less than 5 min.
Perfect location close to city centre- 5 minutes walk to best places of Bologna. I liked opening the door by code- it was really easy. Our host was very kind and even gave us tips where to eat and how to get cheaper to airport (use taxi for 2 and more instead of Marconi express). Apartment was clean with shower gel and basic dishes.
Location near bus station, good connection with bus No25, 15 minute ride to central station, clean rooms with good heating and good sound insulation, excellent breakfast with a lot of choices, you can leave your baggage after checkout and enjoy Bologna before our night flight, great job from Hotel personal and management 🙂😃🙂
I would say that both me and my partner enjoyed everything throughout our whole stay. Room was very nice, everything was clean and breakfast was always perfect. Moreover, the staff was very friendly and helpful on each occasion. Probably this hotel has the best ratio quality/price from Bologna.
A 10 minute walk into the centre of Bologna, which felt extremely safe. Also with Bolognas proximity to the airport the hotel was only 20 mins from the airport which was very convenient. Room was lovely, comfy bed and the room was nice and cool on an evening. Breakfast was really good as well.
Modern hotel, light and bright. Very clean, spacious, comfortable room. Minute from the start of the main road up to the plaza, minutes from the express to the airport, so well situated.
On a main road, so some traffic noise not enough to keep you awake after walking Bologna all day tho !
Outstanding location within 3 mins walk from the Bologna Central Station and about 15 mins walk to the City Centre. The hotel was a pleasant surprise and squeaky clean. The staff at the reception were super friendly especially Astrid and Cypeien. I would stay there again !
Second time staying here. Still great. A charming hotel in the heart of Bologna. We stayed in the junior suite, which was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helped organise a private car for us to the airport during a taxi strike! Will definitely come back!
It's a cheap option to stay in Bologna. The room was fine, it was clean, but expect no luxury or cosy place.
The location was great, in 10-15 minutes walking you're at the central square of Bologna.
The location is as good as it gets for a base inm North central Italy. The train connections are just out the door and it is still only a 20 minute walk to the heart of Bologna.
One of the quirkiest and nicely done rooms we’ve stayed in. Very unique hotel, beautifully done. Good breakfast buffet selection. Perfect location for exploring central Bologna.
Short walk from Bologna Central Station so very handy if getting Marconi Shuttle to airport. Also about 20 min walk in to Piazza Maggiore. Very modern hotel with helpful staff
