Relais sul Mare Boutique Hotel, hotel in Naples

Located on the lively promenade of Naples, Relais sul Mare offers design rooms with attached bathroom overlooking the Gulf of Naples.

It was our first time in Italy. There were just 2 of us and we were clueless on transportation, language barriers, and all the other things that go with traveling out of our home country. Upon arrival, we couldn't figure out entrance to the hotel (gorgeous old wooden doors) but a staff at a close Cafe helped us. Our room was clean, accommodating, and met all our needs. The staff...AMAZING! Francesca, Julia, Simone, and many others were sooooooo friendly and helpful! From calling us SAFE taxi companies (some will not use meter to make more money...BEWARE!!!) To help us locate a dr office for an emergency visit...they were like a new family to us! They truly made our stay indescribable! Yes, they are in the end stages of a remodel and I can't wait to come see the finished product! They're changing the look from vintage Italian to new wVe/deco type atmosphere! The HUGE glass entrance door alone is stunning! I am a fan of the vintage look but can certainly appreciate a business changing with the times! Well done, Relais sul Mare! You are in our thoughts, prayers, and memories forever! Michelle and Jon Mathis

Hotel Eden, hotel in Naples

Located next to the busy Central Railway Station, this 3-star hotel offers large clean rooms, modern decoration, a panoramic elevator and a rooftop garden overlooking the city center of Naples.

My nice, clean room was larger than I expected with plenty of room to spread out my luggage. I got off the Alibus at Garibaldi Station and had a quick, easy walk to the hotel in maybe 5 minutes. I didn't use the shower since I got in very late and was leaving early the next morning, but the bathroom was very clean. My bed was comfortable, and there was no noise from my neighbors and almost no noise from the street. (I was on the 4th floor and used the convenient elevator.) In order to keep the room lights from shutting off, you need to insert your room key into a slot near the door. There were several different restaurants nearby, especially with the Central Station so close. Staff were pleasant and professional, and my check-in and check-out went quickly. There is a nice luggage storage area, as well.

FAQ about guest houses in Naples

Vibrancy, Vespas, Vesuvius

Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.

At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.

While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!

Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.

As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Naples has a lot to offer, the food and the people are very nice. Beautiful churches and interesting places to visit. But it is too chaotic with traffic, which can make a person think twice before going. Crossing the road can be a nightmare especially for the elderly as nobody seems to stop on a zebra crossing. Still it is worth a visit and especially the islands close by which can be reached easily by ferry.

Naples is incredible, vibrant and a beautiful and fascinating part of Italy. The Old Town streets were stunning, the Bay of Naples is glorious. Pompeii and Vesuvius are worth exploring. However the constant traffic in the city became unnerving. We walked everywhere and had so many fast moving and loud roads to navigate that we longed for the relative calm of the UK by the end. It didn't detract from our holiday, but gave a moments pause.

Make no mistake, Naples can be a sensory overload for some, but the rewards are many. It is a city that offers good food , great sights, and has a brilliant culture. The street food is delightful and the cafes have great pastries and coffee. Sure the tourist streets are full and some pizzerias suffer from social media over exposure and now have cues to get in , but wander around and find hidden gems, like chicken and roasted potatoes over charcoal in a side alley, artisan gelato in another and you will be well rewarded. There is a general push to update the city, new metro lines, and the development of Piazza Garibaldi into a Galleria connected to the immense and uptown date clean train station is one example. Naples centrale is more like an international airport. Such a change from 5 years ago.

Naples is a city that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. It exudes an irresistible charm and positive vibes. The people are incredibly friendly, and the food is simply outstanding - no matter where you go, you'll always be treated to culinary delights. The prices are reasonable, and nowhere else in Europe can you get such a delicious pizza for 5-6 euros. Football, family, and Maradona are like holy symbols here. I have truly fallen in love with this city.

It was a revelation and we would like see an opera in the beautiful theatre, visit the galleries , use the funiculars, visit the palazzos and explore further the bay of Naples, most authentic and friendly experience without tourist traps and inflated prices, we fallen in love with the soul of Nea-polis :)

We loved this location! So easy to access all public transportation though we walked most places. We felt very safe, and the room was clean and comfortable, with espresso to enjoy in the morning (beware that in Italy, you have to manually stop the brewing process).
