Hotel Santa Caterina, hotel in Siena

Hotel Santa Caterina is housed in an 18th-century villa just a few steps from Porta Romana. Enjoy breakfast out on the terrace with a view of the Tuscan hills.

The staff was incredible. Tomas and Andrea particularly. It’s outside Porta Romana (one of the city gates) so going into the town will be like a 20-25 min walk, but the view was incredible. I loved the garden and having an aperol spritz or Negroni while reading. The room we had breakfast in was also lovely and we enjoyed the cappuccinos and espressos a lot.

Palazzo Ravizza, hotel in Siena

A historic hotel in the heart of Siena, Palazzo Ravizza offers elegant rooms with characteristic 1920s furnishings. This family-run property is just 2297 feet from Piazza del Campo.

Excellent place, all you need! Elegant, stylish, functional and comfortable, super friendly staff who truly think of their clients (I had to wait for my bus and they had absolutely no issue with checking out right in time, this is truly exceptional), great view from the room, beautiful garden with fantastic view, clean, clean, clean..! What else one would need? I really loved this place. Before moving to this hotel, I was staying in another one with more stars but with much less of everything wanted and was provided by Palazzo Ravizza.

FAQs about hotels in Siena

Romantic Renaissance

Surrounded by rolling hills and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!

Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic center. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.

The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodations deals on Booking.com!

This was our most liked stop in our almost three week trip to Italy. The property and staff was amazing and they were able to recommend restaurants, arrange taxi service and especially the wine tour to the Mazzie Winery in Fonterutoli. The property was top notch, clean, quiet and would highly recommend if you are staying in Siena.

We enjoyed our visit to Siena in spite of the rain on our first day. We visited the Duomo complex and were impressed with the splendour of the Cathedral, the Bapistry and the Crypt but The Piccolomini library was the most impressive part of the complex for us. We enjoyed just walking around the streets of Siena and taking in the centuries old feel of the place.

Siena is a beautiful, historic town with amazing vistas, cost small streets and much less crowds compared to Bologna and Florence. It’s a wonderful place to spend some time in and get a feel for what Italy used to be. If you are looking for something calmer Siena is a really good choice. It is awesome for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Arrezo and others.

The hotel was in a great location inside the walls of Siena. The deluxe room was roomy, very comfortable bed, and nice big bathroom. We loved the beautiful big courtyard overlooking the Tuscan countryside where we enjoyed drinks and the sunset. Complementary breakfast was an unexpected delight - very generous and tasty. The service was excellent we helpful directions instructions on getting to the hotel and to the hotel's private parking - a huge boon in Siena with the strict ZTL.

A cosy hotel organised in the former convent. It was clean and had all basic facilities. It has a great view of the panorama of Siena, and is well located: good access to the supermarket (5 min or so), a few minutes to the S10 bus connected with the train station, 7 min to the Via Tozzi station with buses to Florence, etc. There is no kettle in the room. There is a lift in the hotel but there are external stairs leading to the building. Helpful staff. Old-fashioned shower.

Lovely breakfasts and the hosts Giacomo and Lorenzo were some the most accommodating hosts of I have ever met in my years of travelling, while their staff were very professional and welcoming. Great location for visiting Siena and surrounding area without being in Siena itself. Spacious and comfortable apartment with everything we needed. Washing machine was great as we were in the middle of a long driving holiday around Italy. Bus stop just outside made it super easy to visit Siena itself (5 min away) without a car. Even walked back one evening. Bus tickets available from reception. Staff were very friendly and helpful with advice.

Amerigo, one of the concierge/hotel staff, went above and beyond to help me when my travel arrangements fell through to get to another part of Italy. He arranged for a driver to take me and walked me to the piazza where I was to meet the driver. His assistance was exceptional and stood out as the best part of my stay, and that is saying a lot, because the hotel stay was great. It was a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay in Siena.

Convenience of driving vehicle close to hotel and having someone valet it for us. We’ve experienced challenges staying in the old part of cities in Italy that limit vehicles which makes it a challenge lugging your luggage from the parking lot. The valet service is worth the parking fee. Attention to you as a guest similar to the Four Seasons. Wine tasting in cellar was a great experience!
