Location was great—5-10 minutes walking for most tourist areas but relatively quiet for sleeping (especially the rear facing rooms). We easily walked from the train station to the hotel with our luggage (backpacks). The breakfast was great. We loved the made to order cappuccinos! Happy hour with snacks and drinks was also appreciated after a long day sight-seeing. This hotel is just right—not too fancy, very comfortable, and with all the amenities we needed.

Florence is a bustling city evidencing history on every street corner and all the in-between. Line ups were terrible to contend with and we passed on a few of the really important sites as a result. Cars and motorcycles completed for road use with pedestrians and sometimes I wondered if drivers cared. Shop owners and restaurant staff for the most part were wonderful to deal with. We had many who helped us throughout our stay.

Medieval town with endless narrow alleys opening into scenic squares. A place for architecture lovers and those enjoying art of the period. Galleria del Accademia, Uffizi Gallery, Priti Palace and Bodoni Gardens charge to enter but offer much to see inside. The cathedral is free but allow for a 45 minute queue. It is surprisingly bland inside apart from the ceiling above the crossing. Plenty of restaurants and hand bag shops throughout the city. Mercato Centrale full of restaurants of all tastes open till midnight provides good value. Streets in April already congested with tourists. Bizarrely, no restrictions on traffic ploughing through the crowds literally nudging them aside. So not a place to relax. Be prepared for an exhausting struggle.

Florence is a magical city.
Florence is a magical city. The churches with amazing art works were wonderful. The museum of the Duomo was awesome. Michelangelo's last unfinished work is there, so moving. Book as early as possible for the Uffizi otherwise your visit will be spoilt with too many people and guided tours hogging the pictures. Look out for quirky items, like the wine windows in the walls. Florence is best appreciated if you do your research about it before you go. It's a fabulous city and the people are lovely.

Be sure to spend enough time. 1 or 2 days will not be enough for most people. This was a second trip for my daughter, and the fourth trip for me, We spent a full week and it felt perfect. Get reservations for Ufizzi and for David at the Academia in advance. If you are climbing the Duomo you might want reservations too, or plan on getting in line early and enjoy people watching while you wait. So many things to see! The food is spectacular. Take a cooking class. We reserved a high end dinner in advance too. Even if you don't usually eat meat, the Florentine steak is magical. One steak for 2 people.
I feel sorry for the cruise ship people. They have a long commute and only part of a day.
Summer is crowded and hot. Come spring or fall if you can.
First and last: be sure to spend enough time.

Florence is a the cultural center for the arts mainly the Renaissance so the museums, along with Duomo are a major draw for tourists. Florence is a very walkable city so bring some good walking shoes! You will need to order some "timed" tickets in advance especially for the Uffizi Museum and the Academia Museum. You will also need to secure a time in advance to climb up to the top of the Duomo dome. There are several ticket packages you can get that will include all the museums BUT read the details carefully! I used the Firenze Card for the museums and the Brunelleschi pass for the Duomo. This will save you some money BUT you will need to plan a strategy in advance...Florence can get very crowded! Out side of Florence I took 3 bus/train one day excursions, 2 different Tuscany region tours and one to Cinque Terra . lots of fun but once again read the details.

We really enjoy shopping and eating at the central market.
We really enjoy shopping and eating at the central market. Because you can have a variety of experiences at a reasonable price. We bought some very good leather products at a specialty store near the river.
We were satisfied with the wine, food, and shopping in this city !
Where do we start. We would like to thank Matteo and David for their hospitality and extremely helpful information about the surrounding area and city center. It makes such big different impressions for our trip in Italy. The hotel location is perfect for my husband and I. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, and yet walking distance to the most attractions. I think the most important is their personal people to people service. This is certainly a stay we would like to come back during our next visit. Thank you Matteo and David!
The Villa itself is beautiful, with lush tapestries and furniture. Our room was spacious with a large window and bathroom. The pool deck and grounds were also stunning. The hotel is located in a neighborhood full of trees and flowers, and sits on the edge of the Boboli gardens.
The walk into the center of Florence wasn't too bad but is pretty far when you find yourself a little past the city center in the evening. They do offer a shuttle service but I believe it ends at 8pm (and dinners in Italy usually start at 7pm).
The location was very good. We could walk in the center, like duomo Florence, just 10 minutes. We could reach other places by bus for 10 minutes. The bus is 2 minutes from the hotel. The host was friendly. We were earlier as the check in time, but we could drop there our luggage and at 11 Am our room was ready. The room was very good, with air conditioning for the hot summer days in Italy. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. We had every day clean towels. So everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay at Borgo.
I can't imagine a better location. The hotel is located in the main plazza in Florence. The most famous historical placed that we wanted to visit were a 5 minute walk. It was great having two bedrooms. We stayed in the penthouse, and the views were spectaccular of the Palazzo Vechhio and the rest of Florence. Florence was really hot, but the hotel had the BEST AIR CONDITIONING, which is not common in Italy. I wish I knew the name of the woman working at the receptions desk. She was incredibly kind and helpful.
the concept - it was really comfortable for a tent. The fact that you have air conditioning ( that works) during summer it’s a big plus - I ve stayed in hotels (in Italy) which did not have a working air conditioning even though it was stated.
I loved the surroundings - the fact that you have a pool you can use during your stay. The restaurant was also ok. You have a supermarket which comes in pretty handy and also transportation to the city which is good given that the city center is 1h walk away.
We chose this hotel for it's location away from the historic center of Florence and for the facilities. It was a great decision. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful and the facility lived up to the pictures (for a change!) which included a wonderful breakfast each morning. 20 minutes walk to the Florence's main attractions, was a lovely way to start each day. Overall a wonderful week in Florence and our best holiday in Italy to date.
It is close to the river. The room was spacious and updated. Although the marble shower floors are lovely, they are quite slick when wet. My sister and I had a balcony, which was quite nice. The,restaurant on the top has spectacular views of Florence and the food was wonderful. it’s not in the heart of Florence but the Rialto Bridge is about a 15 minute stroll along the river. It was the nicest hotel we stayed in in Italy. Loved this hotel.
Everything! Such a lovely authentic place with great hosts, Daniel & Alyssa. We felt as if we were in Italy all the time rather than only once we got outside of the usual generic hotel. (A trip highlight was our host’s recommendation that we also try visiting the lesser known Lucca on a day we were going to visit Pisa & we loved it so much we stayed there & didn’t bother with Pisa at all! - best tip ever!)
The location in the heart of Florence and the Angel owner Daniella 💖 The breakfast was a delight and completely different yet authentic!!! The best egg preparations everyday which was the best one we had in whole of our 4 week Italy vacation at 10 different locations. The bed was very pleasant and one of the best amongst all our stays .
We stayed in five different locations in Italy, and this was by far the best. The apartment was large and overlooked one of the main Piazzas in Florence. Everything we wanted to see and do were within walking distance. There were restaurants right outside our front door. If you are going to Florence, this is the place to stay.
Came to Florence to finish off our trip to Italy, and this hotel was the perfect spot for this city; an elegant, artsy boutique hotel. Everything from the design to comfort to communication and cleanness was absolutely terrific. It is just a short walk from the city center and 7 min from the train station.
View from this property is priceless.
What you see from booking.com is a true view from their dining room. Although not a full height window, it does give you a good outlook to see Florence.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Check-in procedure is the best one we have experienced in Italy.
Beautiful hotel. Great location. I was traveling with my 2 grandsons, 17 and 12. We had a lovely, spacious room with 3 twin beds. Perfect!! The breakfast buffet was sumptuous. Patio dining looked out over a garden. Italy at its best!! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
The staff were fantastic. The breakfast one of the best out of 6 weekly stays at other hotels in Northern Italy including some that were 5star hotels .. Great Location on one of the best street in Florence. Very quiet. Evening aperitifs beautifully presented. Highly recommend this hotel .
The Hotel is literally across the Piazza from the Duomo basilica. Extremely central position, but expensive, but hey, June in Italy is expensive. The room itself was very good, breakfast was great and you can walk to every museum, the river, so very central.
Amazing experience! It was a perfect location for easy access to Florence center. Clean, stylish, great breakfast. This was the best hotel we stayed in during our tour of Italy and we would recommend it without reservation. Book here!
This hotel was one of the best ones we have stayed at in Italy. It not only offers a wide variety of amenities, but it also has the most friendly staff. When we go to Florence again, we will definitely stay at this hotel!
Everything! Location, facility, comfort and cleanliness. Nicola at the reception is a great asset to this hotel. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoy our trip in Italy (not only in Florence)
best stay in Florence near train station. very good hotel very comfortable big room, very good breakfast and staff. hotel close to city center, duomo and many restaurants.
