I visited Pisa as an add on to 3 days in Florence as my flight landed in Pisa from Luton. I therefore booked to stay for a 2 night stay which only really gave me one full day in Pisa.
This was just right for the leaning Tower and the buildings of the Miracoli Square including 2 museums, the Bapistry, the Duomo and the compasanto. The Duomo is stunning and the hilight but the leaning tower is a memerising sight. I managed to spend a good 5 hours there including lunch on the terrace at the museum and a timed climb up the tower booked for later in the day. (you have to book a timed slot to climb)
With hindsight i did regret not having at least one more full day in Pisa as i would have liked to have seen the rest of the city including the Botanical Gardens which was shut during my visit.
Please be aware that it gets busy so it may be worth booking the leaning tower climb online before you go.

To be honest, there is not a huge amount to view in Pisa as a tourist. Compared to Florence and Siena it feels more like a 'proper' town rather than a tourist-trap. That's not to say it isn't worth a visit; it is! The Leaning Tower is so famous it is a must-see if you are in the area. The Duomo and associated attractions are also very special for their architecture and are worth a view (in my opinion). Pisa airport is close to the city and cheaper to fly in to from London (and less busy) than flying to other Tuscan destinations, so I recommend it.
The train from the airport to the city is easy and costs about €7 but if you are more than one person take a taxi, which should work out cheaper! Also, we booked a train ticket from Pisa to Florence in advance... big mistake. There was no need to book and buying local was simple and cheap; just €8 per person. It takes an hour on the train (if you chose carefully) and if you think that the Airport to Pisa train takes 5 minutes and costs a similar amount, then one of them is good value and one isn't! I'll let you work out, which-is-which :-)
We stayed in a small hotel (Amalfitana) close to the attractions which was adequate, not great, but had a brilliant restaurant attached named "La Corte di San Leonardo"... we loved the food here so try it out, even if you do not stay at the hotel.
Don't stay too long... unless you use Pisa as a base to travel out to other towns, there's not much to do.

The leaning tower was spectacular as well as all the other buildings alongside. The 3km walk along the old city walls was also wonderful. The whole city is just full of architecture and history. I think a 2-3 day trip is a perfect amount of time. If you are there longer you can catch a bus to the coast for 2 euro or a train to Florence for about 10 euro.

Book restaurants in advance and any of the sites you want to enter. Very crowded between 11.00-18.00 around the major sites but much nicer outside these times. Can recommend Bruno's Bar for a drink or 2 and L'Ostelliono for value sandwiches that are a true delight.
5 euro to walk the top of the city walls is well worth it and so is the botanical gardens to avoid the big crowds. its fairly easy to navigate the old town but don't even think about driving unless you have 2 wheels or a guaranteed parking spot. Don't pay 8 euro for a bottle of beer in view of the tower instead just walk a few meters away and save 50%.

Pisa is a lovely city I have been lucky to visit a few times. The Leaning Tower is worth seeing, but I would suggest going in late evening or out of the tourist season. But there are other places worth checking out - this time we discovered the Nave Antica Museum - only opened in 2019 just before Covid, which houses many Roman boats from BC, which were found after flooding in 1998 - in an old horse stables - lots of gems - lovely restaurants and because it is a student town, there is always a buzz - we've been there in all seasons of the year and it is well worth visiting any time of year, although July and August are very very hot.
We had one day and night in Pisa ahead of flying home after 2 weeks in Italy. It’s fair to say that everything outdid our expectations. The city was lovey. A real university vibe with all sorts of lively squares for a drink / food. All very compact and walkable and airport v close
The hotel was lovely. Family owned on a quiet street but right in the old town. Good sized room which was quiet with very comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and good value
Perfect location literally at the entrance to the Tower of Pisa Gardens. Plenty of restaurants just a short stroll from the hotel while passing the monuments. We had breakfast right in front of the Tower of Pisa. Amazing.
I liked the garden with ample inviting seating areas.
I liked the delicate drapes around the posts of the bed.
Traditional rooms and decor that I love.
Staff were friendly and even matched us with another couple travelling to the airport at the same time as us to share a taxi.
We really enjoyed the Pisa Tower Plaza. We arrived earlier than check in time and the staff was very accommodating. They told us that we could use the pool while we waited for them to prepare the room. Very classy. The hotel is located about a mile from the city but is easily accessible by taxi. The room was very comfortable as was the large bed. The bathroom and shower were spacious. The restaurant served good food and the staff was friendly. The pool area was well kept with plenty of lounge chairs.
It was perfect location. Very close to a university and what's more important university I had to go to. I was so happy to get a room with a view on Piazza del Duomo and slightly could see the Leaning Tower. My breakfast was the best I had since I arrived to Italy. The room was cozy and had a fast connection to internet which is a life savior. Overall the staff is very professional and their service was on a scale 10 out of 10. I was glad to choose Roma Hotel and would recommend it to everyone.
We used this B&B because of its location near Pisa airport both on arriving and leaving Italy. We arrived at night after a late flight; the owner had already sent videos by WhatsApp of the location, how to enter the property, and what was inside, which was very useful. The apartment itself had what we needed for a short stopover, with food available in the shared kitchen. The milk, juice and fresh fruit was especially appreciated. We also sat in the garden in the morning to have breakfast.
The location was excellent. So close to central Pisa bad attractions. Very close to airport and Pisa Central Train Station. very easy to visit other location in Italy via train (Florence and Cinque Terre). Stefano, the host, was great. He met us at arrival showed us around the apartment explained everything. He offered a variety of food and snacks so we could enjoy breakfast before heading out for the day. Place was clean and spacious for 6 of us. beds were ver comfortable.
Excellent location- walking distance from the train station. Pisa is a walkable city so it was convenient for all the attractions. The room was very big, comfortable and super clean. Very quiet, not like other hotels where I have been in Italy where you can hear what happens in other rooms. The breakfast was complete, both with sweat and salty options. The staff was very kind and we were able to storage our bags for a few ours after check out. We liked the hotel a lot
During our stay at Hotel Verdi, we were always greeted at reception by the most loveliest people. We would like to give a special mention to Veronica, who is a new worker at the Hotel, and was extremely helpful and kind, she must be a pleasure to work with! This hotel is a great option when on a budget, you have everything you need, the rooms are clean, there is Wi-Fi, a safe, a hairdryer and most importantly it is in the city centre and close to the tower of Pisa.
Super convenient location! Just 10min walk from airport. There's a giant supermarket around the corner of the hotel as well as good restaurant. The room we stayed in, #1 was just as described. We were greated by a super friendly hostes who helped us with suggestions of surrounding areas to visit. The city center and the leaning tower of Pisa is a 30 min walk. Oh, and breakfast was amazing! I'd definitely recommend to stay here😁🇮🇹
Location is PERFECT! Literally 3 minutes walk from Pisa tower and other main attractions,,,
Meta at the reception was such a nice, friendly man, we appreciate him…
Room and bed sheets were clean, generally the room was well maintained and not old! Also there are many restaurants, cafes and supermarkets right down the hotel so it is all accessible within reach,,, Hotel offers great value for it’s price…
Very close to airport and the was ok to stay one night. It was clean enough and warm especially during winter time 2022 regarding to cost reduction most of the hotels, B&Bs in Italy do not open the heaters after 9 pm but this room was quite warm. on the other hand by 20 mins walking you can reach the popular shopping streets or POIs.
The hotel is literally around the corner from the Leaning tower and about 20 minutes walk from the Pisa Central railway station.
The rooms were big had the building had a semi-Tuscan style to it. We were pleasantly surprised that there is also a community kitchen in the building for use of the hotel guests.
This hotel had the best location in all of Pisa. You could see the leaning tower a block and a half a way from our balcony. Proximity enabled us to visit the tower area in multiple light and also before and after the crowds arrived and departed. It is also very inexpensive.
Great value hotel. Incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. The room was large and clean and the bed very comfortable.
A very short few walk to the train station.and easy to get to from the airport.
Best breakfast we had in Italy was the included in the room rate.
Rooms very clean , free coffee, free buscuits, free wine, vending machines ,cheap parking, hotel outside ztl and also very good position to get out of pisa to go la pienza , firenze etc....also very close to airport and pisa main attractions.
The hotel is around 7 minutes walk from the train station which is also accessible from the airport's 'Pisamover'.
The city centre and the Tower are all within walking distance.
The public areas, bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean.
Location is a few minutes from pisa Station and 25 minutes walk to the airport. The centre is also in walking distance. Room has a lot of space. Breakfast was provided by the bar next to the hotel which was good.
