We were welcomed warmly by Giovanni and our room was immaculate and quirky and charming. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was heavenly! The only drawback was that the room was very warm! We tried to turn the heat down to no avail. Otherwise a lovely stay, and we adore Lucca! Also breakfast was perfect. A charming hotel and a great location! Highly recommend.

Greeted by Rafaele in the evening. Very kind and helpful. He even offered to upgrade us to a slightly larger room as it was available that night. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which was reasonably priced and good. The property is very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. If you have a car and prefer staying out of the city center this is ideal.

The staff were all fantastic, very friendly and helpful, especially Alesia and Nicole. We enjoyed the choices at breakfast and having a glass of wine in the garden before dinner. Even though we were staying in the annex, the room was perfect. We received very good recommendations for dinner from Nicolo too. The location of the Albergo was perfect for exploring the city as well as attending the Puccini concert.

On average, it costs $190 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Lucca for tonight. You'll pay around $274 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Lucca will cost around $250, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Once Italy’s 2nd largest city-state, elegant Lucca remains an important town on any itinerary in beautiful Tuscany. Its instantly recognizable historic center is completely surrounded by Renaissance-era walls which offer a leisurely "passeggiata."
Tree-lined bastions overlook the surrounding modern town, but their low height means that the best photo opportunities of medieval Lucca are from Torre Guinigi. This tower topped with trees overlooks the rooftops below and lush mountains beyond.
The bell tower of San Frediano is even taller and stands back from the elaborate gold mosaic adorning the church’s façade. Equally interesting is Lucca Cathedral’s façade, where every column is unique. The church of San Michele in Foro is on the site of the Roman forum, and the Domus Romana excavations are of a house from a similar era.
Roman amphitheater remains also form foundation stones of the medieval houses, cafés and shops of oval-shaped Piazza Anfiteatro. More sidewalk restaurants line Piazza Napoleone, Lucca’s largest square, around the corner from San Giovanni church, home to a festival celebrating Puccini, the town’s most famous son. Unsurprisingly, music is a big thing here, and summer and winter festivals showcase genres other than just opera.
Booking.com’s range of Lucca accommodations includes apartments, B&Bs and 5-star hotels. Properties are available near the train station, and some include swimming pools and parking.
The booking. Com information states it has a kettle and coffee making in the room. This is not correct. You have to go down stairs to a kitchen and make and carry back to your room. No tap or sink in the kitchen so you may need to take water from your room. We did not see any air-conditioning in our room. Which meant we had to leave the window open for fresh air.

If you have pets, small children, or difficulties walking on uneven, narrow streets with aggressive drivers, this is not a good option.
However, it is charming once you get to the center of the walled city. Shopping and food choices are excellent.
Eat at Pizza de Felipe. It’s a tiny spot with delicious pizza.
The Guinigi Tower is worth climbing but the woman at the desk has a terrible attitude and is quite rude. Ignore her surliness and enjoy the view!

I loved walking round the walls of the city, and also waking through all the winding streets, there were a lot of small art galleries and interesting shops, outdoor cafes and restaurants. There were many impressive piazzas with huge ornate churches and history round every corner. Decent sturdy comfortable shoes and a map required- it's so easy to get lost, and I was lost most of the time! I saw other tourists using their phones, like sat-nav, to guide them, and I'm sure this would have helped if I had had a smart phone.

A beautiful setting, we walked and then rode bikes around the wall. The shopping in Lucca was good. Lots of variety. We took the chance to relax more in Lucca after having some hectic days with massive crowds in Rome. The step down in pace was really welcomed.

Lucca is a delightful and unique Tuscan city; in my opinion it is probably far more interesting and compact than other cities. The city walls are unrivalled and most unusual - almost like walking along a highway, which is so unlike the usual medieval city walls. The town has so much to offer - from history to restaurants and shops, plus the walls to relax on. It is very busy but so are all the other cities. It is also an excellent centre from which to explore other areas; the Serchio Valley (where we live), Pisa, the Cinque Terre, Florence, Pistoia etc. There is a good transport system, both bus and train. I'd choose it anytime.

Perfect for a 3-4 day stay without the crowds and tat of Pisa and Florence. Superb food and plenty of history and culture to soak up. Easy enough to find off the tourist trail places to eat and drink and overall we felt welcomed and its out 3rd visit but our longest which was we felt too long for 5 nights.
Everything is easy to access on foot or bicycle bit don't try driving on the city. Plenty of places to eat and all good quality, out highlights were superb food at Trattoria Da Nonna Clara and more down to earth local's venue Ottavo Nano Pub with cheaper quality food/drink but excellent atmosphere especially when AC v Inter was being live streamed.
The location of the apartment was excellent, inside the walls of Lucca and close to everything we wanted. We really appreciated the access to free parking.
The apartment itself was immaculate. It was extremely clean and met all of our needs for a relaxing three-night stay. The air conditioning was a bonus in the heat of summer.
Claudia met us to hand over the keys and she was so welcoming and helpful with tips on where to go and what to do.
We will definitely stay again on our next trip to beautiful Lucca!
This was one of the best hotels during our stay in Italy, Pisa region and neighborhood. We only stayed one night but wished to have had more.
It's in a great location, very quiet street but only a few minutes from the historic center and the shops.
Check in was smooth, and we could leave our luggages before the official check-in time and after the check-out to explore the city.
The breakfast was nice, it had all we needed for a good start of the day.
Modern and spacious , fresh , comfortable , very clean , fantastic beds & lovely sheets . Good location to explore Lucca. Andrea is such a nice guy with great attention to details . He was super kind & helpful. Really 5 stars experience in a fair price . Thanks for the useful surf tips & nice breakfast . We will come back if we are around for sure :)
The staff are fantastic! They are very friendly and welcoming. The location couldn't be better. On the edge of old town; 1 min walk and you're there. Quiet, safe. Italy won't allow running air conditioning before May 1, so they brought me a fan :) Breakfast is extended continental. Very tasty, and there is plenty to get you going.
Andrea and his wife were incredibly helpful and friendly giving advice regarding nearby attractions as well as Italy as a whole. Nice breakfast croissants and fresh coffee and juice in the morning. Great location near restaurants, small shops, the wall, and bicycle rentals. Comfortable beds and very clean rooms.
The service at Palazzo Alexander is excellent, very friendly and very efficient. The staff are always welcoming and attentive to the guests' needs. The breakfast is one of the best I have encountered in Italy and it was a pleasure to return and see that the hotel excellent standards are being maintained
we have been travelling around that part of Italy for around a week, staying in different accommodations. This one has been by far the best. The owner is very friendly and gentle, the room and furniture are new and very clean. The building was very quiet, and the location was excellent for us.
It was just one night stop in Lucca and we chose an hotel in the city centre to take the maximum from our short stay. The hotel could not be more in the centre! Very good location, the staff was super friendly and the room big and very comfortable for a family of 5 + dog. Breakfast also good.
This boutique hotel is very charming and is located in the heart of Lucca. Everything is at walking distance.
Beautiful property, very clean, spacious room, great common areas, wonderful staff, very good breakfast. Really nothing to complain about (just that we couldn’t stay longer!)
Good location durectly in the old town of lucca.
Parking is possible directly by the hotel or for free at the outside of the old town, 10min walk.
Very friendly and helpful stuff.
Breakfast was good, everything you need to start in the day
The place was decorated nicely, very clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious and it has private parking which is rare in Italy and greatly appreciated. It has a wonderful place to eat breakfast overlooking their garden.
Clean, comfortable, luxurious, professional staff, best accommodation so far in Italy. They thought of all the toiletries and comforts you could like, and went the extra mile to really make it feel like a 5 star hotel.
The staff is great, very warm, positive and welcoming. The cook is lovely, we had the best breakfaat we have had in all of Italy. Very convenient location just outside Lucca but very grean and serene
Great breakfast. Beautiful hotel and the surroundings. The staff was very friendly. Convenient location in Tuscany. Don’t miss visiting Lucca, nice old town.
Beautiful apartment with amazing views of the square. Wonderful breakfast and amazing staff. One of the highlight rooms of our 3 week trip through Italy.
