A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Plenty to see in the old town centre.
Plenty to see in the old town centre. The arena is a must and seeing an opera in there must be quite a sight. I ate in the main square but it wasn't too expensive which is different to a lot of places. They make a lot of the R+J connections but even without that, there is plenty of real historical stuff to be surrounded by. I would have liked to have gone up the main tower but it was a national holiday so the hours were limited and I had to get off on my travels.

A stunning historic city with beautiful piazzas, squares and monuments. Was very crowded in April so I imagine would be hard to navigate in high summer, as a lot of the streets are very narrow. Public transport isn't great, just local buses which are cheap (1.50e a ticket) but difficult to figure out. Castel San Pietro was a highlight, with stunning view across the city and a good value funicular (only 3.00e).
Also, the Arena was only 3.00e to access when we were there because it was partly under renovation. This was excellent value for what is a truly amazing ancient Roman site.

This is a very busy city, a major tourist site, but is absolutely jam packed with history, amazing buildings, fantastic restaurants and as much shopping as you could wish for. Because of the connection to Romeo and Juliet you will find an over abundance of reference and souvenirs but hey ho. A good 3 to 4 day break to get it all in without rushing. One tip, hold on tight if you use a taxi!

If like me , you are covering a number of destinations over a short period of time, then a day in Verona is enough unless you have specific things in mind which require more time. Of course if you just want to just chill out and take it easy, then Verona is your destination! It is a slow and dreamy city and has something to offer everyone, be it sightseeing, food or shopping.
As a vegetarian, my favourite place to eat was Ravioleria Ging Castelvechhio at Corso Castelvecchio 3, Verona. Their vegetarian bao buns were freshly made, piping hot and very delicious! Excellent value for money!

We went to Verona in early March and liked the fact it wasn't crazy crowded. It's a beautiful city with lots of hidden gems. I was only able to spend one night but 2 or 3 would have been better.
Fabulous appartment in the centre of Verona in a side street but far enough away to be quiet at night. Very near to the amphitheatre (5 mins) Very modern exceptionally clean with great pillows and a large comfortable bed. Everything provided from a small pack of washing up sponge/liquid to shower gels etc. we had a problem with our air conditioning which was quickly sorted by reception. The walk to the station is around 25 mins and very easy. We did it at 7am in the morning but Ubers are available in Italy.
Second time stay at the Hotel Verona. Very friendly, helpful staff at reception. This time I had the buffet-style continental breakfast, which was very adequate.
Lovely room on first floor, clean, comfy, great shower ....
The hotel is in a great location, around a 10 min walk to Porta Nuova train station and less than that to get to Piazza Bra and the Arena ( and shops ).
When checking-out I asked for a cab ( to go direct to the airport ) and it arrived before I had said " Arrivederci" to staff.
Property was beautiful, had a delicious breakfast, comfortable, large room and very welcoming staff. The staff member (not sure of his name) who welcomed us at the desk when we first arrived was friendly and kind, and gave us great recommendations on how to see Verona in a short period of time, and recommended a restaurant which we went to and had the best dinner we had in Italy. Really great service!
Stunning boutique style hotel. Staff were first class, so friendly and helpful. When you get to the hotel you are not sure you are in the right place, but when you get out the lift you walk into a beautiful high class hotel with superb fittings and decor. The breakfast was wonderful and easy to get to the centre of Verona.
The location was superior, very clean, and you can find most of what you need during your stay.
We stayed 2 nights, we spent one day in Verona and the other day in Vince . So it was a very good option to escape the cost of Vince hotels.
I would recommend the place to my friends and family who are planning to visit Italy
Nice size room with good bathroom. You could check out till 12 and the breakfast buffet was served till 10.30, with plenty of options available.
There was a bus stop just outside the hotel which took you to the train station and airport and then into the centre of Verona. Very convenient location.
Beautiful property, great location for exploring Verona. Lovely room with everything you needed for a short stay. The breakfast provided is wonderful and brought to your room which is such a luxury. The host has such a pride over the hotel and the city which shows throughout.
This is a beautiful little boutique hotel in Verona. Public transportation is literally outside the front door, as well as many options for food. The staff was great, the room was very nice, and the view from the balcony was gorgeous! We would definitely stay here again!
Our stay was simply outstanding! Absolutely every need was taken care of - it was better than a 5 star hotel. So many special touches to add to the comfort and make guests feel special. Trust me, you won't find better in Verona.... no matter how much you pay!
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, great value, location is Great, right in the heart of the city. Rooms and hotel were very clean and they have a lovely breakfast every morning. Will definitely revisit this spot at our next trip to Verona Italy.
Nice hotel. Arrived late due to 2 hour delay at airport. Phoned emergency number. No issues gaining access. Norman on reception was extremely helpful with an issue we encountered and tried his utmost to resolve. He alone deserves 5 stars..,
well appointed, well decorated rooms with a luxurious feel. lovely breakfast, fresh, everything warm, (nothing in wrapped plastic — a plus for italy as too often this is standard practice). completely charming and just right on all levels.
Location is excellent, we didn't need to drive down any narrow alleys because the hotel is along the river. This also seemed to help with our room being quiet in the evening. Our host was helpful and provided a good map of Verona.
The staff were very nice and helpful. They recommended restaurants that were the best meals we have had in Italy. The location is perfect and the view of the city from our room was great.
The location is excellent, only 200 meters from the Circular Theatre. The hotel is very quiet and has a rich breakfast. It is the best value for money hotel in the entire Italy trip.
Friendly staff. Good parking. Nice room in hotel, easy stay with us pet. Easy walking in Verona centrum. Delicious food in a hotel restaurant. And very good breakfast.
