The staff was extremely friendly and for example hinted a cheaper parking slot in front of the hotel that I had missed vs. their own carage. Hotel was easy to access with car and was in ok location for our purpose (just to stay overnight before venturing to Cinque Terre next day). Breakfast wasn't exactly plentiful but adequate for our needs.

what a great eclectic hotel. hip vibe, friendly, helpful staff. Love that there's a lift! Breakfast was pricey at 15 euros each but decidedly worth it. Able to store luggage for our day into Cinque Terre. Wish we could have stayed more nights.

The Nautilus Hotel completely exceeded my expectations! The rooms and amenities are basic, but the hotel is clean, comfortable, and well located (the train station is easily accessible by bus) - and the hotel manager was wonderful! My friend and I had trouble finding a taxi the day we left, and she and her husband were so kind in helping us. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable home base from which to explore the Cinque Terre.

La Spezia is one of those typical cities of the Liguria Region where colourful houses cover hills and cliffs, providing panoramic views over the sea. Thousands of years of history and a heart open towards the sea have shaped the character of this town surrounded by the 'Cinque Terre'.
Located on the coast of the namesake gulf, its proximity to Genoa has greatly influenced its development and culture. Take a walk uphill from the harbour, and admire the display of architectonic styles in the Old Town. Some of the best hotels in La Spezia are located here, while elegant guesthouses and villas with gulf views can be found in the highest areas.
Must-see sites in the city are the 13th-century Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St George’s Castle. The ‘Sea Festival’ is organized every summer, and its highlight is the rowing competition ‘Palio del Golfo’, a race between the 13 villages of the gulf. Departing from the port of La Spezia, boats can take you to the enchanted ‘Cinque Terre’.
The harbour is a 15-minute walk from La Spezia Central Station, and Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport is 105 km away. While planning your trip, check out Booking.com’s accommodation deals in La Spezia.

La Spezia is always presented as a working port , with no tourist value. We found it to be a good looking , relaxed city , plenty of eateries and cafes , pedestrian areas to walk and a great transport hub. While my friends did the Cinque Terre walk , I made a very easy 90 min journey by train to Lucca.
Infact , it was very nice to be in a town that was just going about its own business.

I have been to La Spezia before.
I have been to La Spezia before. It is very cosmopolitan and I particularly like the traffic free pedestrian area in the centre. Lots of lovely shops. Great for access to boat and rail trips to The Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere

We are a family of 3 with a small child of 4 years age. We planned our itinery based on the weather forecast. We visited Cinque Terre for 1.5 days, followed by Pisa + Lucca on a day and rounded our trip by visiting the top attractions in La Spezia for few hours. I liked visiting the technical naval museum, crossing The Thaon di Revel Bridge walking along ,Costantino Morin Promenade, strolling through Via Del Prione & Corso Cavour. My son loved playing at the play area in Public Gardens. We loved eating Farinata @ Murphy's in La Spezia.

La Spezia was a great place to be based to visit Cinque Terre. The town does have a lot of graffiti though, which we initially regarded as being off putting, however we did not feel unsafe when we were there.

La Spezia is a great place to stay if doing the Cinque Terre trail. It is a nice spot with lots of shops and restaurants. November seems to be a quiet time for the area, we imagine it would have been busier and more atmospheric during summer months.

Beautiful town.
Beautiful town. Wish we had more time to spend another day there. We stayed overnight there so we could use the hop on hop off ferry to the Cinque Terre. Ferry as nice. Then took train back to La Spezia. Beautiful little city. We walked to the boat dock through the town. Lovely walk and harbor is very pretty. Got some delicious pastries in the morning, but we have no idea what they were - unfortunately. Also unfortunately we didn't get a chance to see anything else LaSpezia has to offer. I hope you do.
This was perfect for us, when a train strike stranded us in La Spezia. The Hotel Mary is just across the street from the train station, the room was fresh and clean, the wifi and air conditioning worked beautifully, the staff was friendly and welcoming. There is a breakfast option (or actually two options) but we checked out before that was served. We will remember this hotel for future travel. It was a delightful surprise in what had been a stressful day until checking in here. Thank you, Hotel Mary!
Eveything was perfect!
Stuff : the owners were so kind to explain us where to have breakfast in la Spezia and where to eat around cinq terre. They also gave us tips regarding on which ones are the most worth it to visit!
Location : everything was near to the hotel.. the train station was 10mins walk from the hotel as well as the restaurants around.
Bedroom : the bedroom was very clean and cozy. It looks newly renovated. There's an aircondition, peefect dueing summeetime.
Very clean, lots of space, nice modern design with high ceiling, big terrace with view of sea/ La Spezia city/ hills.
Perfect for travelers with car, we always find free parking lot in front of the house.
Down the hill of the house is directly a bus stop to portovenere, very convenient.
Alberto was very helpful, patient, gave me lots of advice for visiting around and about parking, which is usually never easy in Italy for foreigners ;)
It is one of the best city hotel i've ever stayed. Mr Massimo is super kind and helpful. He contacted me before we reach Spezia, help us all the way, made good suggestions. It is a family hotel, everything is exactly like in photos. he thought everything even the mosquito protection. His wife is cleaning room like her own house. So i couldn't imagine a better hotel. If i come La Spezia again, definitely i will stay here again 😇🙏
The place is very charming and the staff was very welcoming. Rooms cleaningness is 5 stars and decoration is perfect. The pictures speak by themself. Breakfast was really special. Lots of restaurants around, shopping and hiking. We drove in from Rome and it was easy drive and hotel has a parking garage as well lots of other parking around. I can't imagine any other choice when visiting Cinque Terre. Great location and stay.
La Pietra was the perfect mini vacation during my month in Italy. I stayed for one night, enjoying every second of the breathtaking view. The room was spacious and cozy, even smelled amazing. My favorite part was the patio and green space, overlooking the coast of La Spezia. Be sure to check out the maps, itinerary, and guest journal for activity ideas. La Pietra is a must stay while in La Spezia!
Alida was a wonderfull host, very attentive and sincere and she gave us valuable recommendation for our trip to cinque terre. She served handmade breakfast in the rooms (even glutenfree if you give her a hint in time) like in a 5 star hotel and if you need anything, she tries to help. The room was lovely and very comfortable.
We had a very good time in her BnB and we defenitely would come back :-)
If you want to hike and enjoy the nature it is perfect, but if you want to see la spezia and visit restaurants for example, then it is not
Many friendly guests, it is easy to socialize
No problem to find a parking lot
The price is high on the first view, but Italy is a bit expensive in my experience, do the price here is not bad
- the host is very(!) nice and you can stay in touch whenever needed.
- the room is modern and the AC worked very well
- we really liked that you get coupons for breakfast - you go to a café around the corner where you can choose something to eat and drink.
- the location of the hotel is in a nice area of La Spezia.
An excellent hotel. Spacey, well-equipped, new, clean, good breakfast. Great location. 5 mins to main train station. The personnel contacted me via WhatsApp and they replied always promptly.
Whenever I am in La Spezia, I will definitely come back to book here again.
A very kind and considerate owner or employer explained everything about the room and tourist places around. The best service we found around all hotels that we stayed in Italy. Extremely helpful with the luggage bags as there was no lift in the building
10/10! The room is very clean and the decoration is very cute, exactly like the photo. The owner was very kind and helpful. They also provided a little breakfast for us, which is great. Would recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in La Spezia!
The staff. Everyone is very kind and helpful. The girls at the front desk were very knowledgeable about how to get around and always with a big smile.
The hotel was very well located. Breakfast was great. The whole facility is very clean.
Closest hotel to train station in La Spezia. Right across the street. Great hub for Cinque Terre adventure. Regional day pass on train is only 18€ and when your legs where out the hotel is only minutes away.
Comfortable hotel with a lot of Italian charm. The hostess is really pleasant and helpful. Ideal location in the center of La Spezia. Really clean room, with every day maintenance and changing towels.
great location, super close to train station and everything you want to do in La Spezia. Check in was a breeze and they made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. would definitely recommend.
