Hotel Roma is just 100 yards from Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli. Many rooms have views of the Leaning Tower or the Duomo. Rooms are functional and simply furnished.

It has a perfect location, is close to the Pissa tower, and takes 5 mins to walk. Quiet during the night to have a good sleep, (just sometimes a little noise of elevator motor). Breakfast was not special but ok by this price.

FAQs about hotels in Pisa

Look Beyond the Leaning Tower

If you are in Pisa then the first stop is probably to snap a memorable picture of the famous Leaning Tower. Arrive early and you just might get a chance for a solo shoot! Go beyond this legendary experience and discover a maze of ancient cathedrals, buildings and squares in this historic town.

From the Pisa Centrale Train Station, the 30-minute walk to the Campo dei Miracoli is along a pedestrianised street packed with shops and restaurants. If you head outside the touristy area you will start to uncover the atmosphere created from the some 60,000 students who study here.

Appreciate masterful art at Museo di San Matteo and Romanesque architecture at the San Paolo a Ripa d'Arno, San Michele in Borgo and San Paolo Churches. If your feet tire then hop on and off one of the site-seeing buses to get a different look at Piazza dei Miracoli or the dome at the Cathedral of San Ranieri.

Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport is the gate to Tuscany and from here Florence and Siena are easily accessed by train while San Gimignano is accessible by bus. No matter whether Pisa is the final destination or you’re just passing through, Booking.com can offer you over 90 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in this Italian city.

To be honest, there is not a huge amount to view in Pisa as a tourist. Compared to Florence and Siena it feels more like a 'proper' town rather than a tourist-trap. That's not to say it isn't worth a visit; it is! The Leaning Tower is so famous it is a must-see if you are in the area. The Duomo and associated attractions are also very special for their architecture and are worth a view (in my opinion). Pisa airport is close to the city and cheaper to fly in to from London (and less busy) than flying to other Tuscan destinations, so I recommend it. The train from the airport to the city is easy and costs about €7 but if you are more than one person take a taxi, which should work out cheaper! Also, we booked a train ticket from Pisa to Florence in advance... big mistake. There was no need to book and buying local was simple and cheap; just €8 per person. It takes an hour on the train (if you chose carefully) and if you think that the Airport to Pisa train takes 5 minutes and costs a similar amount, then one of them is good value and one isn't! I'll let you work out, which-is-which :-) We stayed in a small hotel (Amalfitana) close to the attractions which was adequate, not great, but had a brilliant restaurant attached named "La Corte di San Leonardo"... we loved the food here so try it out, even if you do not stay at the hotel. Don't stay too long... unless you use Pisa as a base to travel out to other towns, there's not much to do.

The leaning tower was spectacular as well as all the other buildings alongside. The 3km walk along the old city walls was also wonderful. The whole city is just full of architecture and history. I think a 2-3 day trip is a perfect amount of time. If you are there longer you can catch a bus to the coast for 2 euro or a train to Florence for about 10 euro.

Book restaurants in advance and any of the sites you want to enter. Very crowded between 11.00-18.00 around the major sites but much nicer outside these times. Can recommend Bruno's Bar for a drink or 2 and L'Ostelliono for value sandwiches that are a true delight. 5 euro to walk the top of the city walls is well worth it and so is the botanical gardens to avoid the big crowds. its fairly easy to navigate the old town but don't even think about driving unless you have 2 wheels or a guaranteed parking spot. Don't pay 8 euro for a bottle of beer in view of the tower instead just walk a few meters away and save 50%.

Pisa is a lovely city I have been lucky to visit a few times. The Leaning Tower is worth seeing, but I would suggest going in late evening or out of the tourist season. But there are other places worth checking out - this time we discovered the Nave Antica Museum - only opened in 2019 just before Covid, which houses many Roman boats from BC, which were found after flooding in 1998 - in an old horse stables - lots of gems - lovely restaurants and because it is a student town, there is always a buzz - we've been there in all seasons of the year and it is well worth visiting any time of year, although July and August are very very hot.

Pisa sights are mostly gathered in one place. It can be busy with a lot of tourists but it is not so busy as Florence for example. It is very simple to walk in the city from one place to another. And there are plenty things to do except the Tower.

We had one day and night in Pisa ahead of flying home after 2 weeks in Italy. It’s fair to say that everything outdid our expectations. The city was lovey. A real university vibe with all sorts of lively squares for a drink / food. All very compact and walkable and airport v close The hotel was lovely. Family owned on a quiet street but right in the old town. Good sized room which was quiet with very comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Perfect location literally at the entrance to the Tower of Pisa Gardens. Plenty of restaurants just a short stroll from the hotel while passing the monuments. We had breakfast right in front of the Tower of Pisa. Amazing. I liked the garden with ample inviting seating areas. I liked the delicate drapes around the posts of the bed. Traditional rooms and decor that I love. Staff were friendly and even matched us with another couple travelling to the airport at the same time as us to share a taxi.

We really enjoyed the Pisa Tower Plaza. We arrived earlier than check in time and the staff was very accommodating. They told us that we could use the pool while we waited for them to prepare the room. Very classy. The hotel is located about a mile from the city but is easily accessible by taxi. The room was very comfortable as was the large bed. The bathroom and shower were spacious. The restaurant served good food and the staff was friendly. The pool area was well kept with plenty of lounge chairs.

It was perfect location. Very close to a university and what's more important university I had to go to. I was so happy to get a room with a view on Piazza del Duomo and slightly could see the Leaning Tower. My breakfast was the best I had since I arrived to Italy. The room was cozy and had a fast connection to internet which is a life savior. Overall the staff is very professional and their service was on a scale 10 out of 10. We used this B&B because of its location near Pisa airport both on arriving and leaving Italy. We arrived at night after a late flight; the owner had already sent videos by WhatsApp of the location, how to enter the property, and what was inside, which was very useful. The apartment itself had what we needed for a short stopover, with food available in the shared kitchen. The milk, juice and fresh fruit was especially appreciated. We also sat in the garden in the morning to have breakfast.

During our stay at Hotel Verdi, we were always greeted at reception by the most loveliest people. We would like to give a special mention to Veronica, who is a new worker at the Hotel, and was extremely helpful and kind, she must be a pleasure to work with! This hotel is a great option when on a budget, you have everything you need, the rooms are clean, there is Wi-Fi, a safe, a hairdryer and most importantly it is in the city centre and close to the tower of Pisa.

The hotel is around 7 minutes walk from the train station which is also accessible from the airport's 'Pisamover'. The city centre and the Tower are all within walking distance. The public areas, bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean.
