Travelers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo, and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.
Lovely walking there. Great architecture. Many km of mostly pretty porticoes. Lovely squares. Good galleries and museums. Good food from market stalls and restaurants. Easy to visit nearby towns by train. We will be back.

Bologna is a lovely city with many historic buildings and museums and dozens of fabulous restaurants. It's also a convenient centre to reach other interesting Italian cities by a short rail journey. This time we visited Ferrara and Faenza. Last visit we had a day in Modena and a few days in Ravenna. Neither Venezia nor Firenze are too far for a day trip. Maybe next time though there's still Parma and Verona on the bucket list.

Everything is great about Bologna especially if you're a young person. Great food, not very expensive and mostly positive and friendly people. A lot of students in Giuseppe Verdi Plaza was great to see. There's plenty of cheap food that is high quality but even the high end restaurants are not very expensive. Nice architecture and everything is close together (train station, city center etc). I loved Bologna there's nothing not to like about it!

I found Bologna a very beautiful city.
Easy to walk around with many interesting buildings. I am 78 and found walking easy.
I found the hop on and off bus excelkent value . I would recommend getting the 2day ticket.
There are a range of eateries so one can grab a slice of pizza or have a full meal. The aperol spritz are served with small savoury delights.
The food is good.
The people friendly.

Very interesting city. Very walkable.
Very interesting city. Very walkable. The university area is fascinating as is the history of the town - underground canal system, oldest university, etc. It is slightly less busy that other major Italian cities. Great food and nice vibe with it still feeling like a university town (youthful). Had an especially good meal at Da Nello's near Piazza Maggiore. Lots of construction and restoration going on but it didn't really detract too much.

One of the most beautiful cities of Europe, the weather was great and there was a great crowd on the streets. The food n people are nice. You can find history in every corner.
We walked almost everywhere.
Had an eating tour which was very nice.. Go to Via Pescherie Vecchie, for sure you'll find a spot to dine:)
If you have few days you can take a tour to Ravenna to see Dante's tomb, the famous mosaics n have lunch at the Mercato Coperto.
I didn't get enough, sure will go back:)
Check in easy, we were able to leave bags before rooms were ready, air conditioning good in hot summer. Breakfast buffet style pastries and drinks - ok - might be nicer to find a local cafe but it was included in price and adequate if not exceptional. Helpful and friendly staff - sorted a taxi for trip to airport. All good. Good location to reach the main attractions of central Bologna. I managed to leave my phone cable and adapter in the room and hotel responded quickly to my query if it was there (sadly way too expensive to courier home)
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the owner (Alessandro) was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend Milleventi Apartments for anyone visiting downtown of Bologna.
I have stayed at many of hotels/apartments but this was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Alessandro was very hospitable and there for every need of mine.
He helped us find a taxi at 3:00 am. and then he contacted us if we were arriving at the airport.
Alessandro thank you so much.
Great hotel for young travellers, for all with young spirit. You can meet students from around world there, hang out in bar, workout in gym, pool is great for relaxing on hot summer days. Stuff is friendly and speaks good English. Distance from airport train Marconi Express is very good, it is on 5 mins from hotel, as well as Bologna Central Railway station which is good if you visit by train another cities. Distance from centre is ok, if you like walking it is not big deal, 15min...
I loved the full service! Taxi collection from the airport, the location of the property being right in the heart of Bologna, entrance to the flat via special key code, the awesomeness of the accommodation and communication with the host. Property was beautiful, spotlessly clean and it had everything one can wish for in a 5* hotel. Seriously, I was so happy I have booked this property and once I return, I sure will come back here. Simply wow!!!! And big thanks goes to its owner!!
The location was ideal for seeing the sites and tasting the "eats" of Bologna, a short walk from the Piazza Maggione as well as Bologna Centrale train station, and the central market for fresh food. As a solo female traveler, I also felt that the location was secure and safe. There was always someone present at the front desk during my comings and goings. There was also a lock code on the front door of the hotel for entry after 11 pm.
A most elegant hotel, în the city centre. I liked the fact that there was no noise surrounding the hotel. The breakfast was diverse, with perfect coffee, fruit, croissant, cereals, etc, whatever you needed. The hotel is spacious, nota your typical small hotel room. The staff was friendly and helpful. My trip to Bologna was the last stay în Italy after Rome and Florence and I was not disappointed.
The location of this hotel is quite good, though a little far from the centre. But it's easily reachable on foot from Bologna Centrale, and once you work out the bus system, it's no problem to get to the Piazza Maggiore and other places of interest. The staff were always ready to help with special requests (luggage storage, cutlery etc.). And the room was comfortable.
After so many years of traveling, this is the worst experience that we had. The only positive was the communication with the Wonderful Italy staff, it went flawless and the location that is just steps away from the Bologna Centrale and the Bologna city center. Paula, the agent was helpful, she even made it to meet us earlier than originally scheduled.
The room was clean and comfortable. There was a open buffer breakfast with variation. The staff from the hotel picked me up with a shuttle in the night from the airport (€13). For me the price is totally fine. There is a bus station 300 m away from the hotel, where I could easily take a bus to the city centre of Bologna.
The apartment was really good and spacious and the breakfast was very good too and in the same building. It was a 10 minute walk from Lazzaretto monorail stop and was just one stop away from both Bologna Centrale and Marconi Airport. Riccardo (the owner) was a star and made sure our stay was as comfortable as ever!
Hotel Bologna Airport offers very clean and well-organized rooms. The service is impeccable. The location is close to the airport but you still need a cab to reach it. There are a bar and a restaurant but the latter is perhaps a bit overpriced. The shuttle bus is not free but a very good service too.
Hotel Touring is a quaint boutique hotel, but do not judge it from the exterior. We loved the decor, the breakfast (included) and especially the staff! The location was perfect for exploring Bologna, as it was only a ten minute walk to the city centre. Would definitely recommend!
The room and bed were very comfortable indeed and the breakfast buffet worth the fairly hefty price tag, although it did get busy at times. The hotel is a stone's throw from Bologna Centrale station and super convenient. It was about a 10-minute walk into the city centre proper.
Very comfortable room, located within easy walking distance of the train station and 15 mins to the heart (the Towers) on Bologna City centre. The hotel, the City, a great experience. We stayed 4 days and used hotel as a base visit other parts of the region. We will return.
Small, cosy hotel very close to the airport. Large room, comfortable large bed. Good breakfast and excellent coffee. Friendly staff with very good English. The bus very close to the hotel will take you straight to Bologna city centre.
This hotel has one of the best restaurants I visited while in Italy. The salad was the best my wife has ever had. The owner did a great job of arranging transportation for us to the airport. The room was very comfortable and clean.
The hotel is very close to the airport, although you cannot walk to it but have a free shuttle every 15min. The rooms are luxury and there is a nice breakfast in the morning with variety of options. The staff is nice as well.
The staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, the hotel is in a convenient location in the heart of Bologna, and we had real coffee (cappuccinos and espresso, not drip) with our free breakfast.
Good location right opposite Bologna Centrale train station. Restaurants, pharmacy, cafes in walking distance. Very clean and upscale hotel appearance.
