Discover the beauty of Ravenna's history and art on a private walking tour. Visit some of the most beautiful monuments of early Christian history recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Begin with the history of the fall of the Western Roman Empire, then discover what the Kingdom of Italy was like in the hands of the barbarian king Theodoric and finally the wealth of the Byzantine period. Admire images that, like a mosaic photograph, still seem to speak today. Visit the Church of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, a UNESCO heritage site, which contains beautiful mosaics of the Goths and Byzantine period. See Dante Alighieri's tomb and discover his relationship with the city in the so-called "zone of silence". Continue with another important Unesco monument, the Neonian Baptistery, dated first half of the fifth century and passing through the main square, Piazza del Popolo, with a further walk of about 10 minutes to reach the final point of the tour: the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Basilica of San Vitale. The tour, lasting about 3 hours, will end at the Basilica of San Vitale. Plese note that I can do extensions and customizations depending on your needs. Please send me an inbox message to do a double check availability, I am the same guide that will deliver the tour and not an organization or an agency.
