A stone on the front of the house at No. 11, Via Dante indicates that it was built in 1383 by Montorso Montorsi, a relation of Francesco the Elder the stone was placed in 1872, by the restorer Angelo Riello. Montorso, the son of Guglielmo Montorso, served as counsellor to the Signore. The house later passed into the ownership of Guidotti de'Cortellieri, also a relative of the Carraresi. Heavy reworking dating from the 1500s makes precise dating of the house difficult. Judging from the south side, with its protruding section supported by eight barbicani a cantilever in masonry or wood, supporting facade walls that protrude past the ground floor the house could date to prior to 1383. Recent restoration work has revealed interior frescos with the Carraresi crest, and remains of crenulation, which could extend the understanding of the Carraresi royal palace to include a boundary further north than previously, thus including the Montorsi house. It is also possible that Montorso simply constructed a crenulated building, adjacent to the Carraresi property. The use of barbicani can also be seen in houses in Via Santa Lucia, Via Boccalerie, Via Nazario Sauro, Via Squarcione and Via Marsala.
