Hirondelle Laconda, a small, family-run hotel, lies above the captivating town of Aosta with a splendid view of the mountains. In April, we woke to the sound of a cuckoo and the magic of mist-enshrouded mountains and were then treated to an exceptional breakfast of so many homemade cakes and cheeses, yogurts and fruits, perfect cappuccino, muesli and other delights that we might have spent the day in the dining room rather than heading off on our journey! The charming sisters Alicia, the chef, and Nathalie, the hotelier, as well their parents are committed to an idea of hospitality that is so genuine and rare these days, evident in their attentiveness, cordiality, and cheerfulness as well as in the spotless rooms, the well-trained staff, and in their willingness to help plan a memorable stay in the Aosta Valley. Such is their genuine kindness and good humor that when we departed we felt as if we were more than guests and were saying goodbye to beloved family members. We had thought of staying at a large hotel in Courmayeur with a spa and I believe a Michelin star, but we were all so happy with our choice, knowing that what we received was a unique experience, a treasured, star-studded highlight of our trip to Italy.

Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
Clean, spacious apartment with a very well eqipped kitchen. Washing machine and clothes drying rack came in very handy. We are walking the Via Francigena and got lost - phoned Luca and he came to pick us up and took us to apartment. We really appreciated his help - thanks Luca. The location of apartment is excellent - walking distance from restaurants, shopping and Carrefour express. Will definitely stay here again if we come back to Aosta.
We had the most enjoyable weekend at hotel Diana! The rooms are spacious enough and clean. The breakfast has plenty of good choices (coffee is great btw). The spa is extraordinary, we were not expecting such fancy spa facilities. Plus, you can privatize the spa in the evening for a unique experience! But the most enjoyable part was probably how nice and welcoming the staff was. We will be back. Thank you
Everything about the Hotel is just perfect, great location. Very pleasant staff. Very large room and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of choice plus they have a few gluten free options too. There is also a Restaurant on the first floor,we tried it and the food was superb and great value for money. Will definitely be returning on our next road journey to the south of Italy.
I have stayed in this hotel before. It is a lovely, comfortable family run hotel. Both the owner and staff were most welcoming and friendly which made our stay very enjoyable. We had a superb, quality meal in the evening with some fine wine (and grappa). Breakfast was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a place to stay......I certainly plan to vist again the future.
Fantastic location to visit Aosta town attractions. All the town attractions are very closed to this accommodation. It is also convenient to buy groceries because Carrefour express is just 2minutes away and Carrefour market is 7 minutes away. Plus 2 bars are 2 minutes away. Some more, Aosta’s main shopping street is in few minutes. Overall, it was very convenient stay in Aosta to me.
Attractive decor, comfortable room, well appointed. Reception was friendly and helpful. Really nice lounge where I was able to sit and read or have a coffee with lovely picture windows overlooking the square and the mountains surrounding Aosta. Overall the hotel just had a nice feel to it. Also has a restaurant attached, which I never used, but looked pretty good.
This Hotel is a gem. Staff are friendly and helpful, It's so nice after a long drive to be greeted with a friendly face. It's not far from the Motorway, great parking (even with a roofbox). Lovely outside seating area under the shadow of the Alps. Food was excellent. We were really taken by this hotel and will definitely use it every time we drive to Italy.
Our room was large with a beautiful four poster bed, a separate sitting area and a balcony with lovely views of Aosta and the surrounding mountains. The breakfast selection was very large and included local cheeses and well as big selection of sweets. The hotel is set in a quiet area and we appreciate not staying in the more busy city centre.
This small hotel offers great value to those that like us are looking only for a place to sleep when visiting the Aosta valley. It's 5 mins away by car from the city centre. The person at reception is super kind and helpful (he gave us some good dinner recommendations and even helped us locate a hotel card we had forgotten in a restaurant).
The room exceeded our expectations. The location is exactly in the center, 6 minutes walk from Aosta bus station. The room was very clean and had all the essential amenities (Shampoo, hairdryer...). Breakfast was very delicious and abundant. Elena was very helpful and friendly. The experience was very positive and flexible.
Everything came up to and beyond expectations. Very relaxing, hepful and cheerful staff. A perfect location for a rest stop-over or for a week or more to exploe the unique Aosta valley. Some unusual tree shapes in an enhcanting garden, a friendly little church with a charming chime. Very easy to find the hotel.
Nice small hotel, good location allow easy to tour around
Host very kind, helpfull to all our needs, gave explanations about the area and help all our requests.
Very good breakfast.
One of our best stays in Northen Italy.
Others should learn how to treate guests.
The views from the free, not paid for, balcony were amazing and lovely in the morning and evening.
A little out of Aosta, but that was not a problem for us, and after our initial journey to find it , no need for a map.
Very good strategic location in Aosta, clean, calm, easy to walk to the city center, a parking place provided. And this hotel loves children - or son enjoyed a little surprise left for him in our room.
Very polite staff
The hotel is decorated with best north italian taste, without any show-off and still design savvy
The location in the middle of Aostas old town is just perfect
It's a great comfortable place with a gorgeous view. We had convenient parking and situated in a great location close to Aosta and main roads. A good place for a nice getaway.
This is a lovely and comfortable hotel - friendly staff and beautifully decorated rooms and common areas. Excellent breakfast in the morning. Overall a great hotel.
